Yeah it's clear what Ali said, but what he said, and what he meant are 2 different things. What P4P means is if every fighter was equal in size and weight, who whould be the best. He odviously said Sugar Ray Robinson was. He also said he was the best heavyweight ever, and that he was the "greatest of all times." Ali never retracted from that statment. Ali knows that in his prime he could beat every guy he faces at boxing. That's what he meant by calling himself simply "Thee Greatest." -
The actual notion behind pound for pound is a myth anyway, because every fighter isnt the same height nor weight so in reality you would never know who is better. If Robinson was the weight of a heavyweight it would negate much of what we saw him do at welter and middleweight.Comment
