I have a feeling this is actually gonna backfire a little bit.

I can see it backfiring too.

Ricky is a come forward fighter, and trying to focus on defensive techniques will take him away from that a bit. If he tries to box with Malignaggi, then he is probably headed to failure. I think he will abandon the defensive based strategy after a few rounds and revert to his old style.

On the flip side, Sr could teach him to move his head on the way in more, and get back to using his jab more, and improve Ricky a lot.

I'm not sure if i'll buy the PPV (It's Box Office in UK, dunno about US), I think it will be boring, but I might just to see how Ricky looks with his new trainer.

Yea, I think it could backfire. If he tries to outbox Malignaggi he's in for a long night. He has to be himself, because the normal Hatton is a match up problem for Paulie. If he helps him with small things, like covering up, not getting caught coming foward(his biggest problem IMO) it should be a positive. But if he gets in there trying to change his identity he's going to have a long night.

Its a big risk IMO!!! I dont think that hatton need mayweather sr!!! He shouldnt change his style because he got knocked out by floyd!!! His style worked really well against everyone else he fought b4 floyd!!!

I think he wouldve been better fine tuning what he is used too!!!
