NO because Shane is not Oscar. That's ridiculous. Oscar is THE GOLDEN BOY, the most famous fighter of his generation. The first Winky-Shane fight wasn't even on PPV.

And besides, Winky IS a bigger draw and a more recognizable name than Antonio Margarito.

      Again,
Why was Tony able to fill up the Home Depot Center in Carson, while Shane Mosley, whos hometown is an hour drive away, couldn't fill up half?

Again, if Mosley IS old, why would you want a prime welterweight to fight him?

What does a win for Tony really do other than adding an old name?

Beating Roy Jones did nothing for Calzaghe, so what would beating Shane Mosley do for Margarito?

you can't really use the mayorga fight as defining if mosley is done. everyone thought forrest was done after the first mora fight. and mayorga is more awkward style and bigger puncher then margarito, plus the fight was @154.

Marg UD easy at this point.

Why is this even a debate?
just because margartio will probably beat shane doesn't give marg the right to duck him.

Beating Roy did a lot for Calzaghe. It got him TONS of exposure and a nice payday. The fact that the beating was so bad actually did add to his legacy. Tony was in a position to put himself in this same situation, but because his ego is sky high now, he ******ly lost the opportunity.

If Shane was so easy to beat (and I believe he was) the smart thing was take the fight, benefit from the exposure it would give him and from having a HOF's name on his resume, and get the highest payday of his career at 2 mil. He hurt himself by not accepting this fight.
                you're laughable.

If shane thinks he deserves more or half of the money for a margarito fight, then shane needs to get off the steriods because it's making his head big. Lets see shane:

You just had your fight with mayorga moved from one date to another because HBO knew you couldnt compete with a card on showtime. Not only that they changed the card from ppv to free hbo because they knew it wouldn't sell. They figured this fight wouldn't sell in vegas so the best hope is to put the old guy in front of his home crowd in Los Angeles and draws a reported crowd of 5,000 fans and people there said it was about 3,500 Including Earner who covered the fight for boxingscene, and maxboxing. So in your hometown Mr. big name shane against a very exciting fighter in mayorga you bring 3,500 people to watch the fight. Yes the same mayorga that is a household name that people like to see fight. The same mayorga that brought over 500k ppv buys in each fight against dlh and tito. And yes shane the same mayorga that vargas was able to get a ppv date with and sell 300k ppv's!! yet only 3,500 come to watch mayorga fight YOU free on HBO???

Lets rewind to over a year ago when the lesser known Margarito faces a still relatively unknown paul williams who at the time NO ONE BUT hard core BOXING FANS KNEW WHO HE WAS and still is not a good sell. AT THE SAME VENUE MARGARITO BRINGS A RECORD 8,000+ FANS!!! How do you explain that? Now since that fight he's fought at madison square garden, Atlantic city, and The MGM Grand Capturing Two world Championships in the process and Knocking out the undefeated welterweight champion of the world in a fight that many say saved boxing that can be argued as the fight of the year and does 400k plus ppv's in a struggling economy.

and mosley is the better draw? "peeleft:

I'm far from the biggest Roy supporter. Some go so far to even label me a hater because I feel prime for prime, a contest between the two would have been fairly close.

But Joe Calzaghe beating Roy Jones two weeks ago really means nothing in terms of adding to his legacy.

i think that margarito would beat mosley at this stage in their careers, especially if margarito started fast on mosley. mosley lost early rounds to mayorga, and that was quite surprising. if margarito started fast and kept it up he could wear out mosley and get the stoppage.

i don't think that mosley has the power, the punch out put, or the stamina to keep margarito off of him, mosley would have to fight the perfect fight in order to beat margarito. margarito could do what he normally does and still get the win. mosley has never been in with that kind of pressure, PLUS, the workrate of margartio............the margin of error for mosley is very slim compared to the margin for margarito..........
