Does Mosley deserve a 50-50 split in the purse?

He doesn't deserve it but he's still the name and the draw so 50/50 is probably alright.

while I do understand the perception since Mosley has been in the spotlight a lot longer than Margarito as of right now do you still think Mosley is the name and the draw when stats show otherwise? If so then why do you think that?

to me the only point Margarito makes that does make sense is that he is the bigger draw right now (yeah I am very against him not making the fight). He drew more people to the same venue than did Shane with a lesser known opponent in PWill, the supposed 450k buys for the Cotto fight outdid Mosleys last three PPVs (Vargas I and II, Cotto) and his debut on Ring Magazine is the highest selling issue they have had this year and the highest since the DLH Mayweather one.

to me that means Margarito's popularity and star power is bigger than that of Mosley's at this point in time.

mosley's not what he used to be but he's not RJJ shot and he's not BHop old. He had a close fight w/ Cotto and is still a force at welterweight.

I mentioned, if you actually took the time to read it, that the sole point I see on Margarito's side was that yes he is indeed the bigger draw of the two right now. You counter with a "Mosley's still a force" diatribe to which I NEVER said he was or wasn't.

This is not a hate thread on Mosley by any means. We all know what was was capable of in his prime and is a for sure hall of famer. But do you think Shane Mosley who lost a very close decision to Cotto and who beat a faded Mayorga deserves a 50-50 split in the purse with a candidate for fighter of the year in Margarito?

Seriously guys think about it from his viewpoint and top ranks. He is getting ****ed over with a 50-50 split, even if its a career high payday. In my opinion this fight should have never been talked about since i personally think Margarito will stop Mosley into retirement but that is just me.

No he does not...clear and simple...and this is in no way a knock on SSM...doode's career puts him right up there with other ATGs...but at this point in his career and Margo's career it is clearly Margo who can call the shots...there fore a 60-40 split for Margo isn't outrageous or out of the questions...Margo earned that by battering a fighter who most considered THE best in boxing...SSM is legit by all standards but at this point he does not deserve a 50/50 vs Margs...
