I think Cotto would make more money with Margarito than against those two guys but Margarito needs Cotto more than Cotto needs Margarito IMO when it comes to money. If Cotto fights at MSG against anyone its money in the bank. When Marg fights anyone outside of a Cotto or huge name he isnt going to make squat, especially if he is turning down 2 million dollar offers.
Margarito Says Mosley Balk is De La Hoya Payback

Margarito is picky after winning one big fight. Goldengloves2 is right man, Margarito does not have the status, built up fame and fan base, nor the resume to be pickin' and choosing fights, especially agst someone that clearly has better status than him: Shane Mosley. He insulted Shane Mosley, Golden Boy Promotions, and Top Rank's Bob Arum by disappearing and turning down a fight that he said he was committed to. The only pple I can think of that he fought was Cintron, Clottey, and Williams. If he wants to compare himself to de la hoya, who has fought Mosley twice, Trinidad, Julio Caesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga and the list goes on. Margarito has not afforded the right to be chosey, he JUST got on the world stage, and that guy wants to be a star. I hope someone just knocks that bum back to the shadows.Comment

Does it matter even Zoo is better?
Zab has gotten laid out when he steps up, and if they went head to head Tony would lay him out too. All that Zab's resume proves is that some guys get to many chances, all because of their potential and talent.Comment

Your missing on one important point though. Winkey wasn't the champ when he turned that down. You seem reasonable. The problem is, Margarito has passed on a total of $6 million dollars waiting for Cotto. Do you honestly think he is going to get that much when he only made $1.3 million in the first fight? With him refusing to fight Mosley just upped the ante on any future fights. What he basically said is he is worth more than $6 million per fight. You can be the most staunch Margarito fan and see thats not a reality in boxing in this economy. Wanting the more than what your maketability is worth will have him ringside sitting next to Winky Wright.
Wright turned down $5 million for a rematch with Taylor because he felt he deserved more money. What happened? He took less to fight Quartey and less to fight Hopkins and has been sitting on the sideline since.
Plus, I don't think that Marg is turning down the money, that's what you guys don't get. He's turning down the 50/50 split, that's the real issue.
If it was DLH, Cotto or Mosley as champs, they would laugh at a 50/50 split with a guy thats way past his prime, so why all the bad blood for Marg all of a sudden?
Should Marg just be some dumb dude that takes whatever is given to him? You weren't the one who sweated and bled in that gym for so long, I think the guy deserves the same respect that any other champ would get.Comment

lol at cotto making more money in a shane or zab rematch over a margarito rematch. My goodness the hate is clear as water. Clear as a hawaii beach water!Comment

Before you all wrap the noose around Margarito's neck, think about this.
Who is risking as much, if not more than Margarito by having Margarito fight a rival promoter's fighter?
You guessed it, Bob Arum. The last thing Bob wants is for the momentum of that belt to fall into a rival's lap. The holdout, and everything else with these statements could be ole Bob acting as Margarito's adviser on where the money train will go.
If Marg loses to Shane, all is lost for a potential 500000-800000 PPV Monster next summer.
A lot of what we see is smoke and mirrors. The real **** goes on behind the scenes. I can guarantee you that Margarito received suggestions from someone to back out. We only see the **** they want us to see.
I am not saying Margarito is innocent. I am saying there is usually much more to the story. I also say as the recognized "Main Man" at 147, he deserves the lions share purse over practically anyone he fights.Comment
