What does "fighting like a real Mexican" mean? I've always heard people say this yet don't have the slightest idea what it means. Does it mean to stand there toe to toe like rock 'em sock 'em robots and get your brains bashed in? Is this what Mexicans would rather have a fighter do than to box and believe in defense (i.e. De La Hoya)?

I guess it means standing toe to toe and bashing your head in. I guess ducking and blocking is frowned upon.

It means that you don't run for your life and lose a fight that you were winning. TITO It means you don't pick on smaller opponants and still get your ass whipped. SSM PBF FORBES It means that when you challenge a fighter, if he's wins his next fight, you HONOR that challenge. MARGARITO It means you don't STEAL people's money by CONNING them with your BS fights! PAC-MAN It's just things "real" Mexicans do not do!!!!!

                  You're right.

I guess the way it works is if you're a mexican (or if you're kelly pavlik you're an HONORABLE mexican) because you stand in the center of the ring (like rock 'em sock 'em robots) and dont believe in anything that would allow you to avoid a punch and pretty much slug it out like two drunks at a bar until only one is left standing.

If you fight any other way then you aren't a real mexican i guess.

this is what my opinion is...

everytime a poster turns into a big critic over a mexican boxer its a good 8 times out of 10 times that he wasnt "fighting like a true mexican warrior".

I think its just a title put mexicans in general due to some of the great toe to toe wars between mexicans of the past...

I dont think oscar is any more or less of a mexican because of how he fights.

In his prime, oscar was a VERY crafty fighter.

I swear you guys are ****ing idiots.. you act like most mexican boxers have no clue what a defense is, don't know how to raise a glove to block a punch or bob and weave and just sit there going forward with their hands down punching like robots.. I guess you will always have your stereo-types. Don't get mad when someone calls Mayweather a runner though.
