Margarito - Cotto = Who Career Moves ARE WORST..!

There are 4 levels to a boxer's career.

Level 1. Get a couple easy wins under your belt.
(Fight the easy fights. Burgers, chumps, etc......for experience and to build your record. no disrespect to burgers and chumps).
Level 2. Make a name for yourself
Fight other good prospects and past their prime known fighters (undefeated, 1's and 2's, etc..) to separate yourself from the rest, make a name for yourself.
    Level 3. Validate yourself
Validate your dominance over your career by winning titles and beating your peer champions.
    Level 4. Cement your legacy
Enter Club Elite. Picking and choosing, fighting the fights that mean something to your legacy and your bank account!!

WHO IS MAKING THE BETTER CAREER DECISION.
    MARGARITO OR COTTO

    MARGARITO LEVEL 2
Margarito is a fighter in which you can not fight his fight and expect to win unless you are stronger and bigger than him
Margarito is an ALL OUT Brawler... He is bent on getting in the ring and throwing punches in regardless of Defense.
He is truly a The Boxing Definition of a "Pitbull" He is going for kill right away with no re-guard for the others persons abilities.

But also That's why he lost to Slick Black Fighters like Rodney Jones, and Larry Dixon. They beat him because they did not stand there and just throw punches. They moved and boxed him. Just Like Paul Williams did.

Margarito has trouble with Movement, and speed.

The Recent Moved By Margarito ducking
    • Mosley for 2 Million
    • Williams for 4 Million

When His highest Payday ever is 1.5 Million, and when he has nothing on the table to fall back on IS ******.

Margarito you are not some Box Office star. You do not have P.P.V Appeal.
You have not validated your self as a Great Fighter, in which your resume
and career achievement speaks for it's self. You have made a Name for yourself. But this is when the work really starts. This when you are suppose to validate yourself now as a legit legend of the sport. Not Another Winky Wright who became famous by beating a well know fighter, but never took the risk required to validate himself as a truly great fighter in the sport.

Margarito you are on the fast Line of being irrelevent if you do not take the opportunity when it is presented to you...You have did a complete 180...
You went from the most avoided fighter, to the fighter who is now openly avoiding fights.

    COTTO LEVEL 2

Cotto has the most Potentinal of any boxer in boxing today. His talent rivals the best of them He is starting to become an all around fighter. And that is dangerous. He has a crushing jab, and powerful hook. He has under rated ability to adapt.and he will come back from punishment, with offense instead of defense.

But He still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches. Sometimes he punches from too far out and leaves gaps
where he can be countered or beaten to the punch. Straight Right Hands and Upper Cuts will get him all the time.
AND he his defense is way below where it needs to be.

The Recent Career move by Cotto fighting for another VACANT title. When the person who own that title wanted to fight Him before he vacated is ******.
    • When is cotto going to understand that fighting for vacant titles is not
making his situation better, but worst. Because THOSE FIGHTS ARE NOT VALIDATING HIM. BUT RAISING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

Question like: Why does Cotto all of a sudden want to fight for the WBO belt now that Williams vacant it, Knowing all along Williams was ready to fight him.
No Matter what you say. Cotto has not validated himself as a great fighter.
he has made a name for himself as a good fighter on the cusp of greatness.
but he has not validated himself as a great fighter.

    THIS IS THE PROBLEM

he is still trying to make a name for himself instead of validate himself.

    MY QUESTION IS:

WHO IS MAKING WORST CAREER MOVE?

    Margarito or Cotto?

I really think Margarito should have taken the Mosley fight.

And I think Cotto should be fighting a better opponent.

But neither are hurting their careers that much. Cotto is coming off of a tough loss and needs to get his ring bearings back.

Margarito is finally a top dog and doesn't really know how to handle it yet. He'll smarten up and realize he can't price himself out of things.

To be honest, I think they both saw the success of their first fight and are just concentrating on that. We'll have a much better idea of their career paths after the rematch.

As of right now who do you think out of the 2 made the worst decision?

I think Marg, because even though it's Michael Jennings, Cotto is going to be active and fighting for a belt. Marg is going to probably be idle till the rematch, and that's never good. A win over Mosley would have been very good for him, even if he's gettin old. And stopping Mosley? That would have been huge for him.

Now, he's losing some of his momentum from the first Cotto fight, and if he loses to Cotto in the rematch he could be in trouble. Cotto is Arum's guy, and he might not want to do a 3rd fight if Cotto wins, and where would that leave Tony?

Bottom line is Cotto is a more established name, whether it's right or not. Margarito could have taken the success from his win and ran with it. A win over Mosley would have been a very good win, but this is going to be a blemish. Where with Cotto, while I personally disagree, most are more willing to accept that he's fighting a B fighter because he's coming off of a devastating stoppage. He should have fought Cintron or Berto, it isn't the right time for him to fight Williams, he has to beat Margarito and then fight PWill.

Basically, Margs has more to lose with his decision than Cotto does with his decision.

As of now Margarito by turning donw fights with Williams and Mosley. After his tune up fight with Jennings Cotto needs to fight the margaritos and Williams of the world, because if he dont he will be making a huge mistake and people will raise a question mark on his career and or willingness to fight everyone, at any time!!!!!!!

how is fighting the best there is to fight making the "worst" career decisions..
I suppose "good" career decisions would be fighting soft champions like Mayweather did to you though...
