ANDERSON SILVA has fuelled speculation he will pursue a career in boxing by teaming up with legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
The UFC middleweight champion, 33, has joined forces with the Wildcard Boxing Club owner to improve his striking ability.
Roach, 48, trains lightweight champion boxer Manny Pacquiao – widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
He is also working with former UFC star Andrei Arlovski to help him prepare for his upcoming clash with Fedor Emelianenko.
Silva will train with a host of top-level Filipino fighters at Roach’s famous gym as he gets ready for his next UFC bout – a possible light heavyweight clash against Chuck Liddell in London on February 21.
And Roach has now confirmed the Brazilian superstar had joined his camp
He said: “Anderson came in a couple of days ago and I introduced him to Manny and the other trainers.
“He’s going to come in and start training with me.
“I hear he’s a great striker and I hope we can help him improve even more.”
Silva has previously considered quitting Mixed Martial Arts in favour of chasing a more lucrative payday in the sweet science.
He is known to be keen on fighting Roy Jones Jr under boxing rules to dispel the myth MMA practitioners are not as skilled as their pugilist rivals.
Earlier this year, Silva’s manager, Ed Soares, said: “Anderson really would love to fight Roy Jones, Jr in a boxing match.

“It’s not just talk, we really would like to put that fight together.”
“We respect Jones’ boxing ability and think he’s one of the best but we’re tired of different boxers saying that MMA fighters aren’t technical.
“Anderson would love to fight Roy Jones in a boxing match under boxing rules to prove that MMA fighters are technical, too.”
