David Haye needs to straighten his punches.

In the Barret fight, he threw WAY too many looping hooks. If he does get a fight with one of the Klitchkos he will get caught fighting like that. I don't see how he has any chance to beat Vitali. He might be able to catch Wlad, might.

Neither Klit is a great counter puncher there much better leading, if anything the Klits will set up right hands with there jabs and knock Haye out they won't catch Haye when he's throwing hooks

It's a forum for professional, high level boxing. It's natural as much as those inside the sport on our screens, the in news, that people are going to scrutinize and discuss boxers pro's and cons. Spell properly and let it be.

Mizzou, you make a good point actually. He was throwing wild looping shots when he got knocked down. It was an easy counter to knock him down off balance. Luckily it wasn't hard, but if was, AND it was Wlad or Vitali, he'd be in trouble. He doesn't seem to recognise this enough. Infact he said he expects to go down in fights but have to get back up and win.

Sort your defence out, cover your chin a bit more and maybe you won't have to expect to go down. He'd have a much better chance if he covered his chin a bit more, kept it tucked down like some do, and threw straight punchers keeping guys away a bit.

Infact, when he was throwing wildly at Macca (whom admittedly wasn't throwing back) his shots were pretty wide, almost Calzaghe esque lol, but not quite that bad.

this is a boxing forum....people are allowed to point out obvious weaknesses in a fighter.

Haye has a lot of weaknesses that will lead to his downfall

            - sloppy wide punches

            - glass chin

            - left hand too low

            - poor stamina

            - weak in the clinches (small shot HW Barrett was pushing him around)

            - too small (only 215 lbs for last fight)

I like Haye. I think it would be good to have a personality as heavyweight champ. That being said, I just can't see him beating Vitali. Lennox almost punched his eye out of his socket, and the guy wanted to keep fighting. Lennox was significantly larger than Haye.

i agree he needs to straighten up his shots a bit, he can throw loopy ones but only after he has set it up with straight shots

his left hand....i think he has the reflexes to get away with that most of the time, but against the klits he might wanna bring it up...

stamina/glass jaw...i think that was caused by making 200 honestly

as for being weak and small, i dotn see how his size will hurt him, most HW these days are not naturally huge (cept for klits and valuev) theyre just fat ****s

his smaller size will be an advantage IMO, it will allow him to move and pick off the bigger HW's

If I was a moderator I would censor the phrase "wide looping punches". Not all wide punches are "looping" and very few guys actually throw looping punches. Haye threw a few wild ones though.
