Probably because they can make an absolute gutload of money for doing it.

The rubber match between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales generated an estimated 350,000 pay-per-view buys and $17.5 million in revenue.

          Pacquiao-Morales 1 - 350k
          Pacquiao-Morales 2 - 360k
          Pacquiao-Morales 3 - 350k

          Pacquiao-Barrera 2 - 350k

          Pacquiao-Marquez 2 - 400k

Pacquiao does good numbers against known names, the Solis fight didn't do too well but that didn't get much hype at all and was done by Top Rank. I don't think the numbers were ever released for Pacquiao-Diaz.

              No problem.

My mistake, Pacquiao-Solis was rumored to be around 350k but I don't think the numbers were ever released for that one either but yeah, Pacquiao does good numbers against known names, Mayweather is a known name so that would be a big event if it comes off.

Call me selfish, but I was hoping Floyd was feeling the squeeze of the financial crisis just so I could see him in the ring again

Honestly a one year lay-off isn't a true retirement. A retirement, from a historical standpoint, is only going to be viewed as such in hindsight- I think- if it's a few years long. Two, three at least. Not fighting for a year and a half is a hiatus, a brief respite from the sport's punishment and, to be honest, probably a marketing strategy to milk more money by making it a 'comeback fight'.

Why do you think Roger stopped training Emanuel Augustus? HBO said, "family matter"........ which just happens to be FLOYD MAYWEATHER.
