Go read Iceman's thread about Ward...it leads to a conversation about sparring and fighting under the lights.

I also wonder if the bigger gloves and head-gear play a role in boosting confidence.

I'm not surprised to hear that he's doing well against Manny in sparring. He's a big talent but his main problem happens when he takes off the headgear. His chin is terrible and its gonna take a lot more that the "watchful eye" of Freddie Roach to fix that.

khans main problem is his upper body, he needs to loose some muscle.... hes flat footed..

he used to be quick an slick, now hes bulky and predictable..

If not, he's going to be doing his jelly impression every time he comes up against a big-hitter.
          haha......

Truth is in boxing, at world level YOU WILL GET HIT. Doesn't matter how good your defence is...you will get hit on the chin. Khan can't take a punch..it's game over.

So Khan is a lucky son of a gun to be training with this type guy.
pac has probably been told to lay off the chin. I don't see him improving much on his chappatti chin. His sis has saggy chappatti boobs

You can improve your ability to miss or block them. Lets be honest, he can't fail to improve from a 0% defence.

Nobody can seriously dispute Khan's talent. If Roach sorts out his attitude and defence then he should still do well.

The Lightweight division is very strong. Khan has the talent to do very well here, but afraid to say his glass chin will always be the problem.

Roach can improve his defence, but you can't improve punch resistance. Pacman, Marquez and Juan Diaz would demolish him.

lol I've got this mental image of Khan fighting Marquez now. There's a word to describe it, can't quite think of it... What is it? It's coming to me... Coming... Coming... Oh that's it, SUICIDE.

It will be a huge waste of natural talent if Amir Khan can't find a way to protect his chin better. Just watching his open workout with Roach reminds you of just how quick and sharp he is as an offensive fighter, but watching his previous fights reminds you just how limited he is defensively. If Roach can teach him some defence then he stands a good chance of becoming a world champion, but his chin will probably hand him another few losses before his career is over. You just can't block or slip them all.
