Why No Winky Wright

that's really not that bad. most club shows (around here) are like $100-$200 ringside depending on who's fighting, where it is, etc.You know, he really does overvalue himself. I live up here in Washington state, and when I heard Winky's fight next month is gonna be at a local casino, I thought I'd buy some tickets to check it out in person. Then, I find out tickets are $500, $300, $200, $100 and $50. You're telling me I have to pay $500 to sit ringside for a Winky Wright vs. Some Opponent fight at a small casino in the Northwest?!?!?!? Who knows how much money Winky's demanding for this fight???
$500 ringside for a popular former champion is probably the cheapest you'll ever pay.Comment

Yeah, I think so. Do you remember where that fight took place? Even then though, you have two known fighters in a world middleweight title fight. This is just a comeback fight against a non-known opponent in a small Northwest casino!
Reminds me of the time Roy Jones Jr. fought in Boise, ID. against Prince Baji Adamu (or whatever his name is). I went to that fight 'cause we were going to be in town to visit some family anyway. I bought cheap $50 tickets too 'cause those were priced all the way up to like $300-$350, or something like that. The place held about 7,000 people or so, and there was maybe 2,000. Boise's got a lot of money too, but it ain't Vegas and he wasn't fighting anyone known...nor did the undercard feature anyone known.Comment

The fight was near Taylor's hometown I think, which is why it was a bit of a surprise to me that there were so many empty seats. There are limits on what fans can afford though.Comment

No, that's expensive for up this way. We don't get too many known fighters up here, but when we do they're usually priced pretty well. I think ringside seats for the Vernon Forrest-Carlos Baldomir fight last year were $300...with a very good undercard. $500 really is a lot for us.Comment

Exactly, most average fight fans in smaller markets like where I'm at can't afford to shell out that kind of money.Comment

Yeah, I usually don't mind spending $50-$100 for a good hometown card up here, but those prices are pretty steep for what you're getting. I'm usually willing to spend more if I go to Vegas for a fight, or if it's something really good up this way too...I sat ringside with my dad for Forrest-Baldomir. But like I said before, I think I'll just stick to the $50 tix on this one and watch from the beer garden.
