Upon further review, Calzaghe vs. Taylor would be a great matchup.

This fight is unsellable after the Pavlik losses.

Before them, well it would have been a superfight

I immediately disagreed with the HBO commentators after the Lacy-Taylor fight. That win over Lacy wasn't impressive, Jeff didn't show any improvement, and Taylor although he didn't knock Lacy out (he isn't exactly a KO artist), he showed just enough to be slightly impressive but not something out of this world. Nor did he demonstrate anything that would give anyone who's been watching their latest fights deem Taylor worthy of being able to compete against Joe Calzaghe...you've got to be kidding me.

Calzaghe can take punches, has decent power, throws too many punches and has proven that he can recompose himself after knockdowns and adapt. Hell, his knockdown against Roy was partially a wrist blow, meaning he got clipped with something more solid than a glove punch, got really hurt (unlike Hopkins' knockdown) and when he stood up he was swinging. He wasn't just trying to survive, he was willing to exchange with Roy and this all in the 1st round.

Taylor can still be a great fighter in the sport, his two losses were because:

1-) He went in a crazy all-out attack and got winded in the second round of the Pavlik fight (Pavlik does not go down easy), eventually losing because of inactivity and backing up into the ropes because of stamina deficit.

2-) Second fight he did much better, and in my opinion (though don't quote me on this, as I've only seen the fight twice) he could've edged it out. I remember he was hurt I think in the 10th round after taking a solid right uppercut to the body bouncing off the ropes. It hasn't been like he's been absolutely outclassed or downright dominated in a fight, but as much as he's praised, Taylor wouldn't be able to beat Calzaghe.

I'm sorry, you would have to pull out all the stops to convince me otherwise.

man i been saying that Taylor would give Joe problems... maybe not enough to actually win, but his jab could give Calzaghe fits if used properly

**** this match it's insane Taylor looked horrible carrying Lacy and now he gonna all the sudden fight this fight jesus it better not be PPV...I would rather see a Jones rematch than this **** period...if Joe is as great as his rep is right now he shouuld fight a resonable fight he will kill taylor and it will be a ugly boring ass fight with no clean punching and tons of holding I don't know that i'd watch....maybe after i got home drunk and bored but not plan a whole eveninmg of watching.
