He recently created his own promotional company, Joe Calzaghe Promotions, and to compete with some of the other promotional companies created by other UK stars like Ricky Hatton and David Haye - he needs to link up with a bridge to America and views Golden Boy as that bridge. Why would he want to do that. Is he after Tarver? Maybe a second go for Hopkins? I wish he fought a meaningful fight for last, he would get my respect if he fought someone not a heavy underdog or at least someone who can fight for 12 rounds like Dawson. Maybe he seen Lacy getting schooled yesterday and Kessler openly ducking Dawson and because Lacy and Kessler were his two best wins he may be seeing his legacy slipping away from him?

the stipulation for calz joining GBP should be that he has to give hopkins a rematch and in exchange he will get DLH at 163 lbs.

This is one of the pros of Golden Boy Promotions

                DLH

He has also mentioned setting up a pension plan for Golden Boy fighters. This is a step in the right direction IMO, seems like 90% of ex champions end up broke.
I've been hearing about that pension plan for several years. It doesn't take anywhere near that long, only a matter of a few months at most.

My late father God Bless him, set up a Pension Plan for our 350 employees in just over 3 months. The Insurance Co did all the donkey work. And this was years ago, when Pension Plans were rare. The clauses were mainly taken from other Plans already in place, with several added which had special relevance to our needs. An improved version of this Plan is still in place.

I don't think Golden Balls has that many fighters signed up, ones who make a living mainly from fighting, so what's holding things up. Once the first few fighters apply for a Plan, and the Ins. Co's know the wants and needs of the boxing Community, which are all basically the same, it's mainly filling out printed forms afterwards for everyone from then on.

BUT...I'll bet he has a Pension Plan for his Golden Balls working force, they'd probably demand it,. and it's likely mandatory by Govt. statute anyway.

As for himself, Hopkins and Mosley, they don't need a Plan, except an "avoid Income Tax Plan" like most in their moneyed position, although Hopkins and Mosley are really employees rather that meaningful partners. I mean of course meaningful shareholders, since this is, I think, still a private Company, and Oscar would be a fool not to hold onto as many shares of the Co as he can, I mean a MAJOR, MAJOR part. I'ts HIS Company, after all.
