Jim Lampley really seems like a casual boxing fan

    Nothing more.
I bet he didn't even know who Carl Froch was because otherwise he would have mentioned that Taylor will most likely fight Froch next since he is the #1 contender to the WBC super middleweight title.
He also made it seem like Taylor's primary and sole objective was to get a fight with Calzaghe. That's probably the farthest thing from Taylor's mind right now since he knows he won't get that fight.

Jim is great for his voice but dosent know much about boxing. He needs numbers in front of him to say he won a fight.

He gets fighters names and titles wrong all the time

Jim Lampley is p4p the best commentator in boxing. I agree that he may not be the biggest fight fan out there, but he's more than a casual fan for certain. The excitement of his voice and the accuracy of his calls makes him a delight for most fans... Emanuel Steward and Max Kellerman are the ones that need to go. They are obviously uber fans, and they sometimes get so overanalytical they don't know their ******* from their shoulders. I really enjoy the shows with a superstar boxer's perspective as well such as Lennox Lewis, or George Foreman and Roy Jones before they were axed.

I love Kellerman. I actually think he's becoming the best member of the HBO team.

I would bet that HBO doesn't want anything to do with a Taylor/Froch fight (as they've previously declared), so Lampley was probably instructed not to even mention it, and instead ramble on about some fantasyland, pot-of-gold-at-the-end-of-the-rainbow fight between Taylor and Calzage.

i dont get where you think taylor-calzaghe makes good money........tey just lost big time by betting on 24/7 to make em 500k PPV's......
they payed 7 million minimum to Hopkins-Calzaghe to generate mediocre 2 points of rating.....

i mean, im sure HBO, the idiots that they are, are actually thinking this fight makes money, but i dont see how anyone aside from the idiots in command of that network could......

I don't think it makes "good" money on a normal scale... but on HBO's scale... where boxing is hurting... HURTING... these days... what else have they got? A few other options, but not many.
