John Duddy Bites The Hand That Feeds Him

So John Duddy and Irish Ropes appear to be ending their relationship. John is allegedly angry that I.R. has been unable or unwilling to land him a recognizable title shot. Never mind the fact that although he is undefeated he has been opened up like a can of tuna over several of his most recent fights. Additionally had there been another minute left in his fight with Yori Boy Campas, John Duddy would have been knocked out. So Irish Ropes who started John on his way and who jettisoned every other boxer in their stable in order to concentrate soley on promoting John's career is about to be ceremonially screwed by their meal ticket. Thank you and what have you done for me lately is the phrase that immediately comes to mind.

Quite tough, but gets hit too much. Pretty much the consensus of anyone who's seen him.

Promoter talking trash about his fighter after they split on a boxing message board = not cool.

Well why did you milk him by making him at mid-level NYC venues expecting his Irish fans to pony up sfor every single fight against non-descript opponents? Sure he was somewhat protected but he hasn't fought one dangerous title contender fighter his whole career, until the Hearns Jr. fight in January. He should've been given a shot somewhere at least a year ago. He has the heart of a lion and I'm sure he has wanted tougher fights for a while now.

      Consider this thread backfired.

Also: Meal ticket? He was your only ticket. You didn't even do James Moore right by getting building him up correctly or who knows what, he loses to a journeyman, and STILL he gets that potential big name-recognition fight against Foreman before Duddy does? What a joke.

He seems to have milked the fact fact he's 'Irish' rather than let his boxing do the talking though. He is decent, and certainly tough, but not good enough to beat the best. He beat Eastman, but Eastman at his best would have beaten him.

Yeah. I see Duddy as a future gateway fighter, talented but not world class, with an above average fanbase due to being Irish, which is where a lot of Americans can trace their heritage back to.
