According to Steve Kim from Maxboxing.com, the Roy Jones Jr.-Joe Calzaghe bout failed to break the 225,000 mark in terms of Pay-Per-View buys. Based on Kim’s article, HBO had “projected” the bout to do 500,000 buys.
Good to see. This fight imo should not have been on ppv and the undercard was one of the worst i have ever seen.
seriously how can the people running boxing be such idiots???......
For HBO to think this fight would do 500k is so ****ing ******.....trinidad-jones did that.....and trinidad was the attraction......calzaghe hadnt fought on PPV, is not american and his HBO ratings had been reasonably poor....jones didnt do good at all as Trinidads B-side......and the fight had no ****ing promoter...
I'm kind of glad. The undercard ******, hell even the main event was more of name recognition than a quality matchup. Jones hadn't shown anything impressive in the ring since 2003.
