Amir Khan has vowed to avenge his defeat against Breidis Prescott by beating the Colombian in a rematch.
Khan suffered the first professional loss of his career at the hands of Prescott in September when the South American knocked out the Commonwealth lightweight champion after just 54 seconds.
The Bolton fighter sacked trainer Jorge Rubio shortly after the defeat and replaced him with experienced American Freddy Roach.
Khan revealed that Roach has advised the 22-year-old to get back in the ring with Prescott if he has the chance.
He said: "I spoke to Freddy and he said if you can get that fight again then go for it, because you can beat him and do a clinical job on him so it's a fight in the future that I would like to have. I have learned from my mistakes.
"I still have my goals and my ambitions that I want to achieve. It has knocked me back a bit but I am still going to do my job.
"I spoke to Ricky Hatton before I came out here and he said that that punch would have knocked him out. Prescott was a tough opponent. He had a 95% rate so he was no mug.
"In a couple of fights' time I will be back up at the top again and then it will be my turn."
Khan will make his return to the ring in London on December 6 when Dagenham super-featherweight Nicky Cook defends his WBO title for the first time.
The Olympic silver-medalist has re-located his training base to Los Angeles and revealed his new coach has re-ignited his belief that he can realise his dream of becoming world champion.
Roach has coached well-respected fighters like Bernhard Hopkins, Oscar de la Hoya and Mike Tyson, and Khan believes his experience has helped him become a better fighter.
"Freddy has trained all the best fighters and if he tells me I can go all the way then it gives me more confidence. He is a great trainer" said Khan.
"He has made me relax and enjoy the sport more. I've realised it's not all about going in there being direct.
"I should be going in there and trying to catch them out. I should be doing that with my speed.
"If I had the fight now I would go into it totally different. I would be more careful and use my brain more."
