Well written sir. I agree completely but I would LOVE to see Pac win. I just realize that's almost a dillusional thought and Oscar should win by mid/late stoppage. This fight is ****** and shouldn't have come off, but hey, I'd jump in that ring with nothing to lose and about 15-20 million to gain.
be 100% with me, how much of a chance does manny have...

Okay, time for me to interject some logic into this discussion.
Excluding the possibilities that the fight is fixed (which I wouldn't doubt) Pacman has anywhere from 0-5% chance of winning this fight. Here is why.
#1 - Reach : 67" to 73"
Pacman has made a career out of being the bigger stronger faster man, even against people without a significant reach advantage over him, he has displayed a tendency to lunge uncontrollably to close range.
Against Marquez he payed for this. He lunged in off balance and got caught with some monstrous punches.
Oscar will keep him at the end of his jab and drop the left hook as Manny lunges in with left hands.
#2 - Power
Pacman has been hurt, and dropped by fighters with significantly less power than Oscar. Oscar has traded blows with Felix Trinidad, Ike Quartey, etc...
To put it simply. Manny cannot take the kind of power that Oscar brings to the table, while Oscar can take the kind of power than Manny is going to bring.
#3 - Defense
Pacman is exciting for the same reason he has close to a 0% chance of winning this fight. His defense is VERY leaky. He is there to be hit if you are willing to weather the storm. Unfortunately for Manny, the storm will be several miles off the coast.
nice post...but can you imagine lady fan being right and you being wrong. that would be ***in hilarious lol.Comment

Pac needs it to be rigged to win. Yes Oscar got hit by Forbes, but that was because he knew going in the Forbes had no punch at all, and he left his defense aside trying to get a KO so he could set up a Mayweather rematch. He wont leave his hands down for Manny since he knows he is a puncher. Also, Manny has been stopped by wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy softer hitters then Oscar. I expect Manny to come out blasting away and getting caught and put away early. He has to reach to hit Oscar and is WIDE OPEN for the left hook. He will be faster then Oscar, but he wont be able to take Oscars shots. I dont think Pac will see 6 rounds. It will look like a war until then, cause Pac could land more punches then Oscar, but they wont hurt him. Oscars fewer landed shots will do the damage. Pac can win some early rounds on activity and speed, but he wont stay up once Oscar connects. And Pac isnt that hard to find. 10% chance based on it maybe being rigged (as someone stated already.)Last edited by Motofan; 11-14-2008, 02:12 AM.Comment

Pretty small, I would be shocked if Pacquiao won. Oscar is the better boxer technically on top of being the bigger man, that is a terrible mixture for a man making a huge leap up in weightclasses. Less then 10% and taht includes the unlikely chance of the fix being in.
If the fight goes the distance you never know though, but to me that is a huge if.Comment

GUYS STOP the F_CKING FIXED/RIGGED theory ...
its totally D_MB/ST_PID for Oscar to let this fight go other than a KO VICTORY for himself, If Manny wins, Oscar would loose some respect with himself and at the least should be Embarassed that a puny little guy duked him out.
dont take the CREDIT of possible victory of PAC away from the man, as little a chance as most of the experts and most of the posters here give him ...
by the way I am a PACFAN and being as such, I give Manny a lot more chance to surprise us....Comment

I've said it (what seems like) 10000000 times...
Pacman isnt being given much of a chance and most people are overlooking him in this fight and I say they are wrong...
Dont get me wrong; i still pick Oscar to win...
however pacman is going to be very much in that fight for 12 rounds...
he's in his prime (or much closer to it than oscar is)
he's fast (good speed in his hands and feet)
strong for his size
and the perfect height to work oscar's body to tire him out for those later rounds where oscar is KNOWN for tiring out.
I see this fight with oscar getting a big lead early but as oscar fades manny uses his speed to rally back and close the gap to a clsoe but clear SD loss...
I see it being a close but CLEAR SD win for oscar.Comment
