Is it just me, or did Calzaghe and Hopkins both hit there primes later in there careers? Roy might have been able to **** younger Calzaghe because was younger Calzaghe as good as he is today?

Younger Calzaghe wasn't as smart, he was extremely aggressive and always wanted to make fights into wars. On the other hand, he was always a skilled brawler. One thing that younger Calzaghe had (pre-injured hands) was plenty of power, so what he lacked in smarts (not saying he was never smart, in fact the opposite is true) he made up for with power and sheer determination.

Just wondering, since they say Roy in his prime would destroy Calzaghe when in my opinion I think it would have been a close fight since Roy never fought someone as fast as Calzaghe and has the reflexes of Calzaghe. The same goes with Joe, but still I think it would have been a close fight. And I don't think anyone would have been knocked out, I think it would have went to the score cards.

No, you are ****ing ignorant to believe as Calzaghe wants to fool you into believing. That is that he would have beaten the younger-prime Roy Jones. he took the fight now against the faded Jones to force his fans into thinking that he could have won back then. I selected only a few, seems the only reasonable choice. There is quite a few band wagon RJJ fans that aren't really that insightful on opponents likely chances. Some just say RJJ is unbeatable and that's it. Look at the recent poll of prime Calzaghe Jones, when I last looked approx 50% selecred RJJ KO. RJJ could not KO lesser opponents with weaker chins. So there's clearly a lot whom will always say he's un beatable and exaggerate.

Despite this it might seems there's more moronic Calzaghe fans recently as now it's high time for him.

One thing I hate is people on here whom write of entire groups of fans for a fighter. To say all fans are bad is just a discraceful generalisation and way more are guilty of it on Calzaghe then on RJJ. I will say that. I respect a lot of RJJ fans on these boards though, notably Reed, Chunk, Danc, RJJ the Truth amongst others. We need abadger back

i think Calzaghe's always been very smart.....i'm sure it has improved as he got older, but it's not a discernible difference

- yes, he's been known to get caught up in machismo spurred brawls and petty taunting matches, but i feel he's just as susceptible to that now as he's ever been

just like i don't think he's lost any determination and heart as he's gotten older

Calzaghe circa 2005 is Calzaghe in his prime... respectable power, speed, ring smarts, heart, work-rate, defense and chin - perfectly rounded fighter... looked a lot less like an old lady trying to get her handbag back off a mugger too

Ask Eubank about Joe's power. Here was a guy who fought The Dark Destroyer himself TWICE and after fighting Joe said it was the hardest he'd been hit in his life. Hence, Eubank was on his back within 30 seconds of their fight.
