The casual fans bought into the Hatton hype, I loved every minute of the build up and fight because the outcome was inevitable.

I think Ricky did quite well in comparison to most of Floyd's opponents. Hatton did get Floyd off balance right off the bat in the first round, but he was'nt hurt, unfortunately. Cortez took the fight away from Hatton more so than Floyd did. It's a shame because that good fight could have been great had the right ref been assigned. No way Floyd should have been allowed to elbow and put his forearm in Ricky's face so often. I'm not saying that Hatton would have won, but he probably does'nt get stopped and certainly wins more rounds with a different ref.

Props to both guys and that was a great buildup. Calzaghe-Jones was good, but it was carried too much by Jones' side, like in 24/7.

yeah,i thought the whole Hatton v Mayweather event was huge!!!...certainly the biggest i've witnessed in my life-time. i watched the fight again the other day too and it makes u wonder when you'll ever see such a fight on a huge scale like that again!! no matter what people think of Ricky as a fighter, there is no denying his fan-base pisses on every other fighter in the world!!! there will be 20,000 Hatton fans in Vegas again when he fights Paulie.....and if he ever fights at Wembley Stadium he'll fill it easy. can u imagine....100,000 lads!!!!!! P.s. i've heard Noel Gallagher is carrying his Ring belt in too.....he needs to enter the arena to 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' i reckon!!!!!!!!!!

The thing about Hatton - Mayweather was it got the normal person intrested. I remember being in town waiting to get in a club the night before the fight and everyone in the que was singing 'THERE'S ONLY ONE RICKY HATTON!' it was crazy! everyone was talking about it, everyone was watching it.

Floyd played his part in the build up (Playing the ****y, hated knob) I'm pretty sure it's all an act, you see him on that dancing programmee/on interviews outside of boxing/when he aint got a fight coming up and he seems to be a decent guy however he hypes the fights real good (gets everyone hating him, therefore people buy it in hope of seeing him kod) though i think he can go ott (go watch that footage where floyd and ricky meet in the cafe...it was quite cringeworthy watching him acting up.

Here's some of the footage, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUqI_3bST_g

There's another couple minutes on the DVD and he acts real ******, it was embarrasing.

the fight turned out to be, in reality, a mismatch... (not for Hatton's faults, but Mayweather's greatness)

but the EVENT and the HYPE was a rare spectacle... in fact i don't think in my years of following boxing i've seen many, if any, fights with such a buzz surrounding it (maybe cos i live in England).....it's a shame that only a big Hatton fight can have that impact over here.....maybe a massive heavyweight clash also

Yeah the bild up to the fight in the UK was huge. I remember been in the pub and everyone was sayin instead of goin a club or two they was goin house parties to watch the fight. Everyone in the pub was saying how Hatton was gonna kill floyd etc. I think the was only me and some fella who had seen Floyd box. I can't remember a fight been so build up in the papers too. it was backpage, frontpage in almost every paper. Can't believe has been nearly a year since the fight htough.

anyone got links to the 24/7 episodes? so far the best I have seen.

If you're from England then the hype was over the f**king top, If you're from the UK and you know your boxing then you would know Hatton stands NO chance.

It was a great event and both fighter played their part in building up the fight and i doubt we would ever see another fight/event with so much hype like this one ever.

Only fight I could seein getting the hype like that would be Hatton v Witter. Witter would play the Mayweather role and people of England wouldn't like him.

has Haye's fight even been hyped in the papers yet? not read any this week.

i was getting seriously heated in some discussions with people who were buying into the massive Hatton tabloid hype before the fight

seeing him kiss the turnbuckle was a great feeling.....my mate sent a text on the day of the fight saying "Floyd's losing his composure, i think Hatton's gonna do him you know!" and i still rub it in his face to this day lol

Mayweather really got into Hatton's head with all this little stunts that he pulled and they all seem to work in rifling Hatton by fight night and played a big part in him getting KO.
