Hatton - Mayweather: A Year On

I'm watching the DVD of the fight again (The offical one, with all the build up ect.)

It's a shame we won't get to see a fight like that for awhile (With the hype, build up and everything) What do you think will be the next fight that could match it? I'm thinking if Hatton beats Paulie well and then Pacman somehow beats Oscar those 2 fighting would be HUGE.

I'd still love to see Mayweather back, love him or hate him you can't deny he isn't a good fight seller.

On the fight itself, Mayweather fought a great fight but jesus christ...go and watch the first round somewhere and count how mant times Cortez breaks them up (I'm not saying this as a Hatton fan, i could see he got beat by the better boxer) The one that really annoys me is about 10seconds after Hatton rocked Floyd (1st round) He goes in again and literally as soon as they came together they were split up, wtf was that all about? I've always been taught that's part of boxing (Not holding on for ages, but coming together for a lil bit)

Anyways, i just really hope we can have a fight like that sometime in my lifetime and hopefully soon as it's what boxing really needs.

I know he didn't 'rock' him as such, but i didn't really know how to word it. It was when he hit him with a jab and floyd went back into the ropes. Hatton then followed it up and got pulled off as soon as they touched.

Nah it doesn't include the 24/7, i bought the DVD of Ebay for £5 and it's good, about an hour and a half of un-seen footage and then the whole fight and weigh in.

There's a funny bit where Rickys having a quiet drink in a cafe with his trainer, and Mayweather walks in. He starts acting like a knob (Giving out money and all that rubbish) and Hattons just sat there in the corner thinking '****ing hell'

Before anyone says i'm making excuses for Ricky, i'm not. Mayweather clearly out classed him on the night, i'm just saying that watching it again (It's the first time i've wanted to watch it since it happened lol) i can see where Ricky was coming from when he moaned about the ref, i know if i was getting split up like that i'd be unhappy.

I don't like holding in boxing, but it happens and it looked to me like alot of the time he was pushing them apart before they were even holding.

I like Hatton but if Pacquiao beats Oscar he has no chance IMO.

Unless of course ... the fight is a big stunt.

Agree with that, Oscar - Hatton would be big but they're good friends so the build up wouldn't be great as in rivals

That was the smartest thing floyd did in that fight. The plan was FORCING the ref to break them up. Here's how he did it. He knew ricky liked to hit and hold and what he did differently than other opponents ricky had was to tie him up HALTING the action. This worked perfectly. If Hatton wants to beat Pauly he better not try to hit and hold and he must he must be smarter than he was vs floyd. The thing i loved and miss about that fight was that it was truly competitive.
