Current fighters who would make excellent trainers?

Which current (or recently retired) fighter(s) do you think would make an excellent trainer?

Bernard Hopkins and Juan Manuel Marquez get my nod on the list of active fighters.

Recently retired (though rumored to be coming back) Floyd Mayweather Jr. would also make a great trainer.

I want to say Joe Calzaghe, but his style is so unorthodox I'm not really sure I could envision him training anybody who wasn't already a phenomenally gifted athlete.

Same goes for Roy Jones Jr.

I think Wladimir Klitschko would make an excellent trainer as well. And quite frankly, we will need him in the future if we keep seeing guys like Valuev coming down the pipe.

I always believed elite fighters would make **** trainers. Hopkins i think is the only one who would smash that in my opinion

You could be right. The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to withdraw my nomination of Floyd, on the same grounds as why I don't think Joe and Roy would make good trainers.

All 3 of them are unorthodox fighters (with Joe being the most unorthodox), who lack real boxing disciplines. Their styles are derived more from natural talent and athletic ability, than from a solid boxing background.

I just don't think any of them would make a good trainer unless someone happened to walk into their gym who was already a phenomenally gifted athlete.

Hopkins is the obvious standout for mine.

Well just because you were a brillant fighter, dosen't mean your going to be a brillant trainer.Don't get me wrong some great fighterss have made great trainers etc Mcgirt,Jack Blackburn. But some of the time Great trainers never even laced the gloves up etc Angolo Dundee,Enzo Calzaghe. Sometimes fighters who did box and was decent make alot better trainer etc Roach, Mayweather Sr.Trainers come in all different ways.

Yeah Fighters like Roy Jones, and Pernell Whiatker they would find it hard to teach you want they now becuase they are just so talented and so unortohdox and they cound't teach a fighter there type of skill if the fighter hasn't got it.

                    JMM would be the one.

He is textbook to the last letter. He would be a great trainer. Surely.
