David Haye is still unproven (at HW) and I won't take him seriously as a Heavyweight until he impresses me. Fighting a guy who lost to Joe Mesi isn't exactly the best way to get my respect.
Lennox, Benn, Eubank, Calzaghe and Haye are the ones i enjoy. Hatton not so much.
solid list.
for my taste i'd switch ricky and joe though. i like ricky a lot even though he did retire my beloved kostya. ricky got class. the same can't be said for the welsh representative.
Boxers I've watched ranked in order of achievement and ability:
1. Joe Calzaghe / Lennox Lewis
3. Naseem Hamed
4. Chris Eubank
5. Nigel Benn
6. Ricky Hatton
7. Lloyd Honeyghan
8. Barry McGuigan
9. Michael Watson
10. Frank Bruno (highly underrated).
Jon Conteh was just before my time but my dad says he was a pretty handy fighter. Herbie Hide had the misfortune to be marooned between two weights. Herol Graham was perhaps the most skillful boxer I've seen - alas he was always let down by his chin. Perhaps Steve Robinson deserves to be ranked higher. Respect to Duke McKenzie, Dennis Andries and Carl Thompson.
Not a bad bunch of scrappers for this country's modest size.
