I'm a long time 'lurker' on these forums but I dont post much. I'm trying to decide whether or not to have a boxing party for the Dec 6th fight, but I'm wondering what you all think about how stylistically this fight will be for non-Boxing fans. My friends know near nothing about boxing but they would all show up if we get a keg, hehe. One of my other friends hosted a party for De La Hoya / Mayweather and all I kept hearing for weeks was 'that fight ******.... no knockouts... it was boring'. I just gave up trying to explain what was going on defensively, points wise, etc.. I actually was the only one who thought Mayweather was winning before the scores were read... lol.
So anyways, I feel like this would be a good fight to try to get my friends into boxing:
1. Highlights will be on ESPN
2. Their co-workers will talk about it
3. David / Goliath angle really needs no explanation
I'm not the greatest at analyzing styles though. it's my boxing knowledge Achilles Heel. I'm guess it will be a jab fest for about 4 rounds with oscar up 3-1 or even 2-2 after four rounds... then I think it will get interesting. I think starting with the 5th round on Oscar will choose to abandon his jab and pacquiao will let his hands go. I think it will end in KO or atleast have some good knockdowns. What do you guys think? I mean I'll probably have this party anyways, but stylistically do you think it will be exciting for the 'I wanna see someone get beat up' non-boxing fan?
Thanks for your opinion
