Would Hagler get credit had he defeated Ray Leonard???

Had Hagler won that fight would people have claim that Leonard is a natural WW and doesn’t belong at 160. This happens to Hopkins. But in Hopkins case Tito had proven his power carries over to MW after KO’ing Joppy at 160, yet people say Hopkins beats on smaller men after beating Tito. That was Leonard first fight at 160.

Had Hagler won would he got credit for that fight

Good argument. I think history would give Hagler credit.

You must remember, this was before the days of the internet, where fans could rampantly talk **** online about any win they disagreed with and the credit that should be given in regards to said win.

        1. Tito was considered the best fighter in the world.

        2. Tito was a champ at 160.

        3. Prior to that, he was the unified champ at 154, not welter.

        HUGE difference.

But if it happened now? No way.

Hagler would be an overrated bum who feasted on the corpses of dead Welterweights.

Also, a known rapist and cannibal to boot.

            1. hagler is a small middleweight and ray was a big welter. hopkins is a big middleweight.

            2. ray is better than tito. sad to say but true.

            3. unlike tito , ray won a belt at 168/175.

What title did Ray win at 168 he drew with Hearns, or do you count the win over Duran number 3. Title at 175???

Tito started at 135 he could not fight at 168 EVER and be competitive.

                ?????

                you misread boxrec , flawless.

ray beat lalonde for lalonde's 168 and 175 belt. i don't know if the wbc let ray keep the belt though. i remember it was for both belts but i don't remember if the wbc didn't sanction it or stripped him of it.

he had a draw with hearns so hearns kept his 168 belt but ray kept his also.

btw tito never fought at lightweight. he started his career fighting at junior welterweight but he was like 16-17.
