I hear all this talk about how he beat a washed up fighter and he should get no credit. To see if a fighter is washed up or not, you can't just look at the age, you have to look at the way they fight. You can't just look at the age and say, oh he's washed up. B-Hop is 43, he is a physical specimen though, Hopkins hasn't really shown signs of being tired in the later rounds, a perfect example is the Pavlik fight. Hopkins killed him by landing those quick flurries, throughout the whole fight, he had pretty much the same work rate in rounds 10-12 as in rounds 1-3, and Pavlik is known for his constant pressure but Hopkins didn't get tired one bit. Hopkins is still able to hang with ANYONE in the general area of his weight class, and he's P4P#3.
OK, you people have to give Calzaghe more credit for beating B-Hop

The thing is Calzaghe could have lost the decision could have gone Hopkins way. Calzaghe looked bad in that fight and was knocked down. If it was more of a clear cut win he would get more props but it wasn't -
I feel Calzaghe's win over Hopkins is a good one even if it was close.
Hopkins is still at 43 a very good fighter.Comment

I'll give Joe full credit if he rematches and beats Bernard again.
Because myself, many fans here, and many other sources including ESPN, The Associated Press, and Yahoo Sports all scored it for Hopkins.
Until Joe erases any doubt, he's not gained my respect for beating Bernard.
(For the record, he did gain my respect for dominating Jones.)Comment

When you see how B-Hop put the smackdown on Kelly, it gives you an indication (even if you think that B-Hop won the fight) of the skill level of Joe. He's definitely an A-level fighter, where you put in in order of merit in that A-grade level is up for you to decide. He does belong in the top level of fighters around today though!Comment

Umm, just because it wasn't a clear win you don't give credit? Like I said, B-Hop can still hang with anyone in his general weight area, and he is still the toughest fighter for Joe. Doesn't the fact that Joe got KD'd, and was still able to come back and get at least close with scores say something? If B-Hop KD'd him round 1, he would have had to win round 2 and round 3, just to TIE him.Comment

He definitely deserves credit for that win now, Hopkins' win over Pavlik makes Calzaghe's win look much better than it did before. Hopkins does have an excuse for that fight though, a thyroid condition that was bothering him for both the Wright and Calzaghe fights.Comment
