What did the HBO commentators say about Calzaghe-Jones?

I only saw the Setanta coverage and if i'm going to be honest they were so bad i can't stand listening to British commentators when boxing is on.
Did they give Calzaghe props or did they just wait til he destroyed him and say Roy is shot?

Here's a big shocker : absolutely nothing. They only mentioned Hopkins when the camera panned to him in the audience, laughing his ass off at Roy getting ****d and slitting his throat while pointing to either Roy or Joe one.

HBO has hated Bernard since, what? '98? '97?

      Something of a mixture.

They gave Calzaghe props throughout but Kellerman repeatedly mentioned that RJJ isn't the fighter that he was.

Lampley also had a go at Calzaghe for showboating and disrespecting RJJ.

Nah man, they were pretty even. They pointed out Joe's obvious skill and Roy's Shot...ted...ness..is..ism.... They were right down the middle. That's one of the reasons why HBO is the best at what they do. I was watching a stream of the fight because this month I couldn't order it, so I watched the fight mainly called from british announcers nuthugging Joe though. Unbearable.

Lampley almost started his save yourself speech late in the fight, Kellerman did say Jones was pretty much a shell of his former self, Steward didn't say much although him saying Jones' corner should find a trainer in the crowd who knew how to stop the cut from bleeding was funny. Overall they were objective, gave Calzaghe his props, Lederman said the 3rd round from Calzaghe was great.

But didn't you think they were off the mark with the 'stop showboating' chat?

That's wasn't disrespect, both fighters were doing it during the fight. Jones after the first round and Calzaghe when he made Jones miss.

Best was when Lampley said that Calzaghe was deliberately fighting in such a way as to give RJJ a chance of knocking him out because he has respect for him... Kellerman had to try not to laugh at him.

'Well, that would be veeerry generous of him Jim...' hehe

Damnit guys, I tried my best to turn this into a Bernard love fest but it just didn't work!

Anyways, yeah, HBO was pretty objective. Though I think Kellerman was about to cry.

That uppercut Jones landed in the 4th I want to say was a thing of beauty though. Catches Joe with it and ducks out right under his incoming hook. That was a "What the **** just hit me?" punch that Jones used to be able to throw at will. Most guys would have gone down from it.

Boxing's worst commentator Max Kellerman unfairly discredited Joe and hugged Roy's nuts all night.

Lampley did a good job and was fair to Joe. Manny Steward did a great job, giving intelligent, insightful analysis and Joe the credit he deserved!

Too bad that HBO waste their money on having that ******* Kellerman there. Jim and Manny work very well together, they did a great job without him on the Pacquiao-Diaz PPV.
