"I wanted to run in tennis shoes" - Floyd Mayweather, talking about how he branched off from his father, who made him run in boots.

Didn't Ray say that on an episode of HBO's "Legendary Nights"? Which episode was that again, do you remember? Great quote.

There's so many good Hopkins quotes. He said something about "people of history crossing the line", it was before either the Wright or Calzaghe fight but damn I'm pissed I forgot it. Here's one I do remember though!

"He (Pavlik) better watch what fights he takes, he already sounds like Elmer Fudd" After Pav-Taylor 2

"I'm not in boxing to see how hard I can get hit"
      -Mayweather

What good is this thread without some Bert Sugar and Larry Merchant quotes?

If lightning were to strike Antonio Margarito, we'd have to take lightning to the hospital.
          -Bert Sugar

If Rahman walked down street in his gloves and boxing trunks, they'd have a problem recognizing him.
          -Bert Sugar

Calzaghe not only schooled Lacy, but he flunked and expelled him.
          -Larry Merchant

          When Klitschko dropped Johnson..........

          Vitali just harpooned that whale!
          -Larry Merchant

When talking about Pacquiao knocking Marquez down 3 times in their first bout.....

He's like a typhoon coming from the pacific!
          -Larry Merchant

When referee Vic Drakulich told Mayweather and Castillo to "calm down" in their first fight........

Calm down? What do you mean calm down? It's a fight!
          -Larry Merchant

When Lewis was KO'd by Rahman..........

He just drowned in Ocean's Eleven!
          -Larry Merchant

          Talking about Mayweather vs. Judah.......

          Flawless vs. Jawless
          -Larry Merchant

On the subject of Michael Grant's chin.......

To say that he has a glass jaw, would be an insult to glass.
          -Larry Merchant

Sure there have been injuries and deaths in boxing, but none of them serious.
            - Alan Minter

If you're God, you're in the wrong place tonight.
            - Joe Frazier, after Muhammad Ali said he was a God.

I didn't beat Sugar Ray Robinson. I beat his ghost.
            - Terry Downes after beating an old Sugar Ray.

I don't think Larry's hands could take another 15 rounds of that.
            - Tex Cobb, when asked if he wanted a rematch with Larry Holmes after taking a one-sided beating.
