I dont think he could of stopped jones..
Jones was still dangerous right up till the end..
You wouldnt wanna get caught with a sneaky counter
The 7th round was Joe's biggest round where it did look like if he stepped
up the pace a little more he may have stopped jones but he didnt carry him at all..

I thought it was pretty obvious that he virtually carried Roy through the final couple of rounds.

There was definately an element of that, no doubt. He definately wanted to let Jones finish.

I dont think either guy wouldve attempted to brutally KO the other. They just seemed to wanna put on a show for the full 12

I agree. Jones was known for letting guys finish and I think Joe certainly could have pressed a lot harder in the later rounds had he needed to with Roy being pretty spent and only being able to see out of one eye.

i think joe could've pressed harder and stopped him . . . but then he would have opened himself up to a counter so i think he carried rjj to the end and also he didnt have to take any extra unnecessary risk to a certain extent.

Jones knocked him down and hurt him with his WRIST and Calzaghe is the one that carried Jones? Oh plz. Calzaghe was ahead on the score cards and was afraid to get caught. as simple as that.

Answer me this, have you ever been hit with a forearm in a fight or sparring, if you have ever even done it? The only time my legs have ever actually felt like jelly was when I took a hard forearm to the side of my jaw, after a punch missed me. One of the most painful memories of boxing for me. My head throbbed for days after-wards. It would have hurt Calzaghe less if he got hit by the punch. It would have hit him of the side of the head, instead of taking a full on forearm to the bridge of the nose. Vicious.

Anyway, on topic. I don't think Calzaghe carried him so much as just doesn't have the same edge anymore. If he was in the same shape as four years ago I think he could, and would have stopped Jones on an accumulation of punches. I don't think these last two fights have been very solid Calzaghe's. They have been good and he has trained well for them, but it is not the same Calzaghe of Eubank, Lacy and Kessler.

I don't think he saw either guy as much of a threat, which was very ****** considering the Hop fight was his hardest and Hop had just come from wins over Wright and Tarver. He should have gotten up for that fight more so than any other. He looked better against Jones, but still didn't have the same aggression of earlier years. I don't think he cared about stopping Jones whereas he used to fight to stop guys along with his boxing skill.

Also Kswizzy, If he was so afraid to get caught why the hell was he standing in front of Jones with his head on his chest and hands down by his legs? Why was he constantly ****ing about and sticking out his chin? He wasn't at all afraid of getting caught. If he was it would have been every single round for Calzaghe in an even more dominant performance. As it was, the only times when Jones landed hard, was when Calzaghe was ****ing around.
