You know, while I don't think this is in any way true, I've always had this in the back of my head. What if, just what IF! Oscar is going to throw this fight purposely to get Pacquiao to be the next big star or face of boxing knowing that he's done very soon. Could he in all reality be trying to do something good for boxing? I mean, I highly doubt it's true and it's gonna make him look like **** for losing to Pacquiao, but it's just a thought that has ran in my head when you take into account, aside from Oscar, there's nobody huge anymore in boxing that carries followings like them. Hatton's crap and will be done shortly so he don't count.

        Pavlik could still redeem himself

depending on whether he proves to be the real deal at HW or not, Haye could definitely make some noise given the opportunity

I still see a lot of guys in the sport who can sell PPVs.

            Manny Pacquiao
            Juan Manuel Marquez
            Israel Vazquez
            Miguel Cotto
Kelly Pavlik (If he redeems himself)
            Ricky Hatton

Not to mention up and comers like Berto, Dawson, Linares, etc.....

i will let u all know that oscar dela hoya is saving boxing and giving limelight to all the fighters u like. come to think of it, all the fighters he fought went from ordinary to stardom. all them got their biggest paychecks when they fought oscar. oscar knows what at stake, and that is him losing but giving his opponent the opportunity he had. almost some who went on oscar became the future hall of famer. when oscar fights it is the biggest event of boxing and people who dont even know boxing watches it. so shut the fuuck up for hating on dela hoya. margarito knows that oscar is washed up he just wants to fight oskie to get the limelight that he has been longing and to get the pay check that he needs.

And they need to start showing exciting European fighters like Haye, Alexeev, Boytsov, Kessler, etc. instead of the old Americans, so to gradually build up their popularity.
Victor Ortiz and JuanMa Lopez both have crowd pleasing styles, Andre Berto, Jorge Linares, Gamboa, Cotto, Pavlik, Taylor can still redeem himself, Luevano has the skill to be a JM Marquez type counter puncher, Haye, Dawson, Areola, Paul Williams, Margarito, Marquez bros., Vasquez, Paquiao, .....thats just off the top of my head. Boxing will be ok, out with old in with new, it wont stop because Oscar leaves.

I don't think that matters. GBP doesn't have anyone yet of the equivalence of Pacquaio or Oscar himself. The entire boxing in a whole will suffer without a big star or name. It'll be like the economy crisis on awhole new level in the boxing world once Oscar is gone. I mean, have you heard about solo boxeo being cancelled and HBO/Showtime cutting their boxing budgets? It's not looking good man...
