    Whats Wrong With Dawson?

I've seen quite a lot of negativity directed towards Chad Dawson in the last few days. He's young, talented and undefeated. He would give Calzaghe a good fight IF Calzaghe wanted to continue fighting. I've only seen a couple of his fights but he loooked good against Tarver and I respect him for dropping his WBC Light Heavyweight title to fight Tarver!

Steve Bunce even went as far as to say "Dawson couldn't draw flies." IF Calzaghe was to fight Dawson at the Millenium Stadium in Wales it would sell out because of Calzaghe not his opponent anyway.

    Why the Dawson hate?

I thought Dawson was stripped of his belt for ducking Diaconu 5 times?

You won't see any Dawson hate from me, I like Chad, but he needs to stay away from Calzaghe. That kid is in danger of being shat on like Pavlik was after Hopkins obliterated him, because if Joe beat Dawson, 1) Joe wouldn't get any credit, and 2) Chad would suddenly be "exposed", "a bum", or "he was always over-rated anyway".

And the hype train rolls on.

Dawson needs to prove himself a little more before even thinking about Calzaghe. He needs to give Johnson a rematch, stop ducking Diaconu, fight someone like Kessler, and then maybe he could ask nicely for a Calzaghe fight.

So... if Joe beats Dawson, who would be the next over-rated, over-hyped fighter who's supposedly gonna expose him?

The thing with some fans is that they get offended by any fighter that posses a threat to their favorite fighter, and with Dawson being a good puncher, fast, two time world champion 6'3 ect and a legitimate threat, they just don't know how to handle it. They are just too excited over this win over Jones to even think about anything else right now.

Oh and Dawson WOULD beat Calzaghe.

He vacated it! Also, don't believe what you hear from people that doesn't know what they're talking about. Dawson only avoided the Diaconu fight one time and that was to go against something bigger in Tarver. He has wanted that fight for about 2 years. Dawson was ready to fight Diaconu last September when he suffered that hand injury, it was he who pulled out first.

Maybe Dawson can't draw flies because he's a clean black dude.
        Just kidding.

          Diaconu dropped out when they were gonna fight due to an injury. Dawson was supposed to fight him again but Dawson then went with the bigger name with that being Antonio Tarver. This proved to be a good choice as Diaconu injured himself AGAIN for his next fight. Oh and if Chris Henry can do this to Diaconu imagine what Dawson would do to him;;;;

Who has Diaconu beat? The name Tarver is better on your record than Diaconu! Dawson wants the big fights not alphabet mandatories!

I'm not saying Calzaghe Has to fight Dawson I'm just saying IF he wanted another fight Dwason would provide a good opponent!

I have mixed feelings about Dawson. Great offensive fighter, but his defense lapses and he would not beat Calzaghe or Hopkins, but to his defense he did not duck Dicanou.

First time they were supposed to fight:
-Dicanou pulled out with a hand injury.

Second time they were supposed to fight:
-Was ordered by the WBC. Dawson wanted to fight Tarver, but was game.
-Showtime stepped in saying they were tired of waiting for Dawson and Tarver to fight and put their footdown.
              -Dawson vacated because of it.

He wouldn't beat Hopkins or Calzaghe? If Jermain Taylor and Calzaghe could beat him on work rate alone, then Dawson certainly could as well and would possibly hurt him as well because he would put the power behind it. I think some people jump too far when they look at the Pavlik fight. Pavlik is not only a middleweight but is not a slick boxer or naturally a light heavyweight. He also fights in a straight line and is a one/two type of fighter. Dawson would be too much for Hopkins. I think he would beat Calzaghe too but that's just my opinion.

I see Dawson as a talented but vulnerable fighter, a borderline world class fighter. His haters ignore his talent, and his nuthuggers ignore his vulnerabilities.

He needs to fight and defeat a couple of prime age opponents like Kessler, Diaconu, the winner of Lacy vs. Taylor, Henry, or Cloud, then he will have proven himself.

I eagerly await Shumenov vs. Dawson someday.

Nothings wrong with Dawson i quite like him
but all of a sudden people are acting as if hes the next big thing
and for what ? because he outpointed a 40 year old Tarver
big deal people forget that Johnson gave him all he could handle

and that after hitting Adamek with everything he had for nine rounds
the pole still had enough to drop Dawson in the 10th
and make him back off for the last two rounds.

Dawson's good but he's nothing special.
