Americans laughed at Ricky Hatton and called him a hype job
and fair enough he was overrated by some in the UK
but at least he only lost to the best p4p fighter who was at his best
and Ricky also won titles in two weight divisions.

What about Kelly Pavlik, Jermain Taylor, Jeff Lacy
and all the other hype jobs the US have brought to our screens
over the past few years ?

They haven't achieved as much as Hatton and thats a fact
i cant even list all the American heavyweights
that have ended up falling to Eastern Europeans.

Hassim Rahman was Americas last heavyweight champion
and that was seven years ago Rahman was so poor
that he never even made a defence of the heavyweight title.

The Yanks will complain that European fighters never leave home
but how many times did Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones, Antonio Tarver
or Roy Jones fight away from home ? not once.

On the other hand Lewis, Klitschko, Hatton and Calzaghe
all ended up coming to the states
so who are the real stay at home champions ?

Some American fight fans are so sad that they desperately try
and find somebody to fill the gap.

there are so many people here jumping on the Chad Dawson ****wagon
that its almost embarrassing and i bet most of those people
where riding on the Kelly Pavlik bandwagon only a month ago.

what if Calzaghe did beat Dawson
would the American fans give Calzaghe respect ?
nope they would just jump ship and find somebody else to back.

Thats cool I'm sure most Europeans don't care
what the bitter American boxing fans think
after all whens the last time you guys had a real fighter ?
boxers like Jones, Mayweather and Hopkins just hit and hug
or hit and run there way through fights.

I have a lot of respect for the hispanic champions
men like Barrera, Morales, Trinidad, Margarito and Cotto
because they do the business the right way.

This isn't directed at all American fight fans
because I'm sure if i looked real hard i could find a few smart ones...

it would probably take a while though.

I dont think you have to leave home to be considered great especially if you're American because all the top fighters want to come here to try and make a name for themselves anyhow. Holyfield has fought outside the US a few times yet he's seen as an ATG heavy. The middleweight great Hopkins fought ONCE outside the US but he's still an ATG. See where I'm going with this? I dont think you have to travel alot if at all if you're a great American fighter because fighters go where the money is and the money has always been here.

I was simply pointing out that we have to deal with these posts every day and they get tiring. Particularly for those of us who are not from Britain or the States.

so why should he leave home ?

Those guys can pack out at home and sell 40,000 tickets
Hopkins and Jones have never been able to do that anywhere in America
so it works both ways.

not just the british fighters but the German and Russian fighters too.
