I thought Joe was nice to him 'you missed your calling you should have been a promoter'....he'd be well within his rights to give him a real piece of his mind. I bet it's one of those comments that pisses you off hours after you hear it.
Max Kellerman is entirely unprofessional, and a certified hater.

I've broken it down by round, and the contradictory comments often came seconds after another. Some contradicted exactly what was happening live, like Calzaghe paying Roy more respect when he was visibly holding his hands down and shaking his head infront right in front of Roy. That's a shambles.

If you'd care to note some other specific examples that would be a start. Because I've listed exactly what happened, and most were flat out contradictions and dodgey comments.

Why listen to HBO in the first place?

I remember watching there coverage of Hatton-Mayweather and being put off them for life! Larry Merchant is the only decent commentator amongst them and that's really saying something!

I think the setanta commentary was great. Obviously they are in Calzaghe's favour but at least they did not put the fighters down with snide comments like the HBO crew.

all of the below is true

No legs. No reflexes. No chance.

That was the sad state old Roy Jones, Jr. found himself in last night at Madison Square Garden. The things that had for so many years made him unbeatable had deserted him, as they do all men with time, and all that was left was a technically flawed stationary target for Joe Calzaghe to stab and punch at for 12 rounds.

Well for one the articles you posted were pretty factual, unless you don't consider Roy old and washed up, being beaten down unlike what he was doing in his prime etc.

Plus you can't blame them for pointing out a situation. I mean, at one moment Calzaghe touches gloves with Jones, showing lots of respect. They point it out. Then the next thing you know he is still taunting Roy and enjoying it at the very last round, which is unnnececary. Lampley points it out. I agree HBO can be rubbish but I don't really agree with the severity of it in your post.

I've often wished that I could turn the announcers off and still keep the crowd noise. Watching a fight with no sound on makes it seem so detached.

I agree, HBOs and mostly Kellermans stock is going down.
