The State of the Light Heavyweight Division

Last night's fight answered some questions and created interest in other possible matchups at Light Heavyweight.

Joe Calzaghe is the real deal and still undefeated. He's a real Light Heavyweight and perhaps the best in the division right now.

How good is Joe? He beat Bernard Hopkins (officially). Many wrote off Hopkins as washed up, until they seen what he did to Kelly Pavlik. That's how good Joe Calzaghe is.

Did Roy have anything to offer last night? I think he did. Joe just set a tremendous pace from the beginning. He never let Roy get comfortable and pressed him all night.

So where does this all leave us?

There are two other names out there at Light Heavyweight: Chad Dawson and Glenn Johnson. These two, with Joe and B-Hop create for some interesting matchups at 175lbs. And Roy can still pursue that rematch with Hopkins (B-Hop dominates IMO).

Dawson vs Calzaghe vs Hopkins vs Johnson

    Light Heavyweight Tourney anyone???

It's a damn shame Joe never fought a Prime Jones.

That would have been great. As for now? I don't know if Joe will keep fighting, he'll probably have a year holiday anyway and wait for unifications.

One thing is certain here. Hopkins seems to have the most options right now.

            A rematch with Jones
            A rematch with Calzaghe
He can whoop on Dawson, take his straps and call out Joe
A rematch with Johnson (no interest at this point though)

Johnson is a good fight for all of them, too bad they won't even think about fighting him. I think he's fighting in a couple of days.

Oscar is shot. He would have KOed Forbes if he was close to his Prime.

RJJ was shot he would have KO Tito, Oscar is not shot as RJJ. Oscar beat Ricardo Mayorga FOR A TITLE AT 154 while RJJ was fighting Tito
