to Joe Calzaghe... Its was a good win.
Basically after the fight was done, I realized that I over-estimated what I thought Roy still had left... Anyone whose watched Roy in his prime, can unbiasly say... that wasn't the same Roy in the ring. I got the feeling that he got pumped after the knockdown, and then won the 2nd round... the 3rd and 4th rounds seemed competitive maybe, i leaned towards Joe in those... and by round 5, I started to see a glaze in Roys eyes like... he realized he wasn't gonna be able to fight at this pace for 12 rounds...
BUT! I give Joe Calzaghe credit regardless because of one thing.... after 45 fights, he didn't get complacent... he stayed motivated and focused, and no matter what Roy Jones showed up that night, he was coming to win regardless, and you have to respect that...
I think Roy might have one last farewell fight in Pensacola.. he always said his last fight would be in Pensacola where he started it out...
So in short, We'll miss you Roy
You've still accomplished some GREAT things in your career and your a first ballot hall of famer, and still my fav fighter no matta what! You showed heart!
Good job Joe! Ill be honest, even though I knew Roy was done half way through the fight, I still found more respect for Joe, because he came to fight and he came to win. He's 46-0 and almost 37, so good job. Your a sure hall of famer as well...
Lets put it this way... Roy didn't end his career on a loss to Prince Badi or Anthony Hanshaw... he closed it at almost 40, and against one of the best fighters there is today... On top of that he showed heart... so I'm cool with it...
Good fight everybody... If you don't mind Im going to pay everyone tomorrow.. I gata get some stuff done around the house
