I'm CONVINCED a Prime Calzaghe would hang in there with a Prime Jones. Did you see how difficult Jones found it to time Calzaghe?

Yes but you have to remember that Jones's whole game came from his reactions as he never did anything conventionally he never even really used the jab in his prime. Joe has always been open to the right hand throughout his career and i think a prime Jones would have probably stopped Joe but who knows.

Whether Joe is slapping or not...the work rate of Calzaghe was too much for Jones. Jones just couldn't handle the constant pressure.

Yes...age and two causes causes dementia.

Joe would have always given Roy problems, but come on, be serious, shot is shot all around.

..but Calzaghe wasn't hurt by those. And how the **** can he get knocked down by the punch in the first round and then survive the uppercut. Biggest surprise was that Calzaghe was much faster than jones, I can't even remeber Jones ever being that fast. Also Jones has never been cut before, Calzaghe was mixing in hard lefts with those quick flurries.

he would have had more ring movement in his prime.
he never once in the fight went for the leeping left hook his best punch. jones use to throw combinations. what had me sad was that roy seemed to have no strenght after the second round. power had gone. in the single punches jones had the speed advantage but after round 5 that went as well

roy in his prime would have smashed him with combinations and stopped him throwing in volume

the 2 punch combo wasthe best series of punches that jones thre in the entire fight, he hit calz but nothing more than that.

i maintain that joe was the only real fighter in his prime who would have given RJJ problems.
