I am a huge Roy Jones Jr. Fan, and I was as disappointed as the next guy that he lost last night, but Calzaghe is due some respect. He beat Roy at his own game. Joe got up from a knock down in the first round, made it through the second round beating, and then systematically took Jones apart. You know and I know, and even Joe knows that that wasn't the best Roy Jones ever, but that isn't his fault. In boxing you have to take it one fight at a time. He fought and beat the guy in front of him just like he did 45 guys before. And remember, a 50% Roy Jones is about the same as a 90% anybody else.
So i'm sad and disappointed, but i know Roy was the greatest of my generation. And in the future when debating who was greater, just remember that Roy was lb4lb champ from 1996 until 2003, and Joe has never been higher than 2.
All great fighters get old. I consider Muhammad Ali the greatest fighter of all time, but i'm pretty sure Joe Calzaghe would beat him now if they fought.
