Pavlik was able to K.O Taylor who Hopkins lost to twice, Hopkins couldnt garnish 1 victory in 2 tries vs Taylor and he got beat in a 12 round decision vs Calzaghe ,Hopkins did destroy Pavlik and Pavlik did beat Taylor twice,so maybe Pavlik might be able to beat Calzaghe by K.O, styles makes fights.Pavlik may be able to do what Hopkins couldnt do like when he beat Taylor and with Calzaghes almost glass chin , P{avlik may be able to beat Calzaghe, what Hopkins couldnt do as well

kelly is a middleweight,joe has never fought under super middlewight,calzaghe is not bernard that will make fighters from the lower weights come up and fight him just to make sure he has some type of advantage over his opponets

I've always said it even before the Pavlik-Hopkins fight, Pavlik is an aggressive fighter, who wants to go toe to toe and brawl with his opponent, and like the thread starter said, styles make fights. Joe LOVES those kind of fighters, and he would be swarming all over Pavlik, and I think everytime Pavlik would try to do some damage, Joe would either duck away, or quickly go to the inside and throw some quick combinations. Also, Calzaghe is much dirtier than Pavlik, and wouldn't let him do a lot of things that are meaningful.

Calzaghe just like Hopkins, is way too big for the middleweight Pavlik.

But I would give Pavlik more of shot at beating Calzaghe then most would.
It wouldnt look anything like the Lacy fight. Lacy is a short small compact power puncher, who hasnt done anything other than lose to Calzaghe. Pavlik is a tall long boxer puncher, who can go 12 strong rounds. I would say Calzaghe is the fav. but I would give Pavlik a big chance.

Seriously though, the first punch of the 2-hit combination really hurt him. Didn't you hear him in the interview? He said he got hit by a very strong punch. He didn't even know it was a forearm. Whether it would have been a forearm or the glove, he still would have fallen down. Most people would have been seriously hurt by this and would be in deep trouble after that.

it gives him more props because he didnt got intimidated one bit and was with his hands low the rest of the fight
also roy jones suffered from the same cowardly syndrome of hopkins after knocking down calzaghe they didnt went for the kill, old fools

It wasn't really cowardly syndrome, if you look at round 1 again, Roy tries to throw some flurries and some straight rights to hurt Calzaghe, but Joe bobs and weaves and counters him a few times for the remainder of the round since there was only like 45 seconds left. By the second round, really the effects of the KD had worn off.
