joe won't retire... he'll have a farewell fight in wales for his fans... if we're lucky he'll pick someone with a chance to beat him instead of picking some bum so that he can look good going out.

Why all this hate for Joe? He is one of the best, he beat the best, so what he needs to prove. This Dawson bull**** is going overboard, is like saying that Floyd is no a ATG because he didnt fought Berto, before retireing. This is getting ridiculous. Joe haters are trying to find and excuse, and the worst one is that he fought 2 old guys, well guess what? he is old too and past his prime, he is 37 for crying out loud!!!! People act like he is 26, and in his prime. Joe deserves a lot of respect, and when he wanted to fight, Roy and B-Hop back in the day, they didnt want to. Even Roy said that there was bigger fights in the States than fighting Joe, so enough with the fighting a prime roy or B-Hop wich in my opinion wasnt as good as now!!! Joe is one of the best of his era, sadly that people here in America doesnt repect him as he deserve!!!!!

I was surprised Jones lasted 12 rounds!!,.. (although I think Calzaghe allowed him to) Jones was a mere shadow of his former self,.. a prime Jones would have stopped him after the knockdown,.. Jones owes Joe a debt of gratitude for carrying him 12 rounds. I thinks Bhop could have beat him if he were more aggressive,.. but thats water under the bridge,.. if Joe continues,.. a fight with any body other than the 175lb champ would be meaningless,.. better to go out with his 0 intact.

I agree that Joe carried the fight as much as I hate to admit it. Jones eye was ****ed up and Joe showed mercy and respect by not just destroying his eye. A disappointing match but Joe did put on a graceful opponent. I take nothing away from him but this: If he was a true champion he would have fought Jones and Hopkins in their primes since they were all reigning champions at the same time. I don't give him the status of great considering that Jones and Hopkins have way more big, quality names on their resumes. Joe should retire on top and Roy and Hopkins should fight each other (you know that you would buy this fight) or retire. Joe is being knocked down by half strength punches which to me is warning that his reflexes are starting to go."peeleft:

I still would have liked Joe to be honest and acknowledged Roy was not the same "Legend" we came to know. He is kidding himself and he is proud of beating up a corpse.

He should concentrate on his victories over Kessler and Lacy; two good wins; and not a 43 year old past prime fighter and a shot corpse.

Funny, say what you will about Tyson, but anybody remember what Tyson said after his victory over Larry Holmes?

Why is Joe the only one to get flak for these fights not happening?

                  Am I missing something here?

Is Joe Calzaghe the only fighter in the last 15 years to be able to make a fight happen?

I always thought it was two fighters who needed to come to agreement.

Why didn't Jones or Hopkins force the issue back then?

as a boxing fan, i would like to see joe vs chad dawson because i think it would be a good fight. i don't suggest joe keep fighting until he loses, but i would like to see him in with a guy who would throw punches. everybody has to admit it would be a good fight to watch because both guys are tough, they have fast hands and reflexes, and they are not afraid to stand and trade. joe is still in great shape, and doesn't look like he'll be slowing down anytime soon. dawson is a damn good fighter with a lot of athletic talent. it should be joe's last fight because it's so fan friendly, **** proving anything. the man will go to the hall of fame no doubt, win or lose, so why not make a lil more money before he hangs up the gloves.
