  • How would Hopkins vs Jones play out?

Seriously Im curious about this one. Hopkins is the best at nullifying a high output fighters game, but Jones at this point only counterpunches. Hopkins has a great chin but is not known for KO power. Im stumped how this fight would play out. So in this fight I see Hopkins on offense while Jones counterpunches. Weigh in on this one guys. Is it a fight worth making?

Hopkins would be the aggressor, I see him tagging Jones all night. Hopkins can definitely take advantage of Jones' limited mobility.

Boring fight, neither willing to lead too much, Hopkins probably would be the more aggressive fighter and would pick his spots against Jones, leading to a decision victory or even a late stoppage.

I see Hopkins doing to Jones nearly the same thing Joe did to him tonight, landing at will and easily outclassing him. He would chase him down with the straight right hand all night and Bernard wouldn't have to worry about Roy's firepower or his workrate, allowing him to really showcase his abilities.

I think I sumed it up perfectly in another thread on the same subject earlier tonight.

Very well said! It is sad though. It is possible that some of us may never live long enough to see another boxer with Roy’s athletic ability that he had in his prime.

You really disappointed me. Jones takes this easily. He is still one of the most brilliant ring tacticians in the sport. It would be a very very technical fight. Very little time would be spent on the ropes as Bernard would not be willing to give Roy the counter punching opportunities.

Roy would end up winning this with hand speed.

He has been shot? He fought with Joe, while Hopkins looked like an old man who held all night vs Joe. Not to mention Joe is the #1 P4P fighter today so no disgrace in losing to the best.

Jones is further over the hill than Hopkins, I don't know what keeps you from seeing that, Jones doesn't have it anymore.
