Jones got an early knockdown on Calzaghe in the first round but looked shaky after the second. It was the first time he was seriously cut like he was and managed to finish with the cut. Yet although he was cut, Calzaghe was playing the "Jones Jr' game and style and mocking him at times and even let his hands down but Jones just wouldn't hit him and he wouldn't let his hands loose throughout the fight. Jones will be considered great but he has disappointed many in this fight by not letting his hands go and punch with a significant style like he did early in the fight. This was largely due to the cut that really affected his vision but on the opportunities were Joe was mocking and giving him a chance, he could've probably got in some shots that might've got the crowd on his side more and might have given him some motivation but he will still be a great boxer when looking at his record.
