Round by Round Update (Jones Jr vs Calzaghe)

Judah-Johnson round 1

Zab sticking and moving. Johnson digs to the body. Little left by Judah. Judah does not look set but is relaxing more as it goes on. 1-2 by Zab, and Ernest Johnson set a little off balance. My stream is cutting out a bit and I missed the last 30 seconds of that round. I cannot score it because it was very close before that.

[Slotff]

Round 2:

Ernest Johnson has his hands held very high. Big left by Judah rocks Johnson a little bit. Johnson putting the pressure on and gets in a nice right hand! Zab holds. 1-2 by Zab. 1-2-1-2 up and down by Zab. Zab's jab looks nice tonight. Slick little move by Zab! Flashy thing it was. They tie up and wrestle a little on the inside. Two nice right by Johnson. Very close round thus far. Nice left by Judah. Johnson bleeding a little. HARD combo by Zab. Both guys lose their balance and fall over. Close round, Zab takes it though. Zab will not sit down. He gets up and stares down Johnson! Judah becoming very confident.

Judah attacking with more conviction. And they tie up after a hard Zab combo to the body. Right hand by Johnson gets through. Big left by Judah. Johnson wrestles Judah into the ropes. Body shot by E, and Z replies with a little hook. Nice uppercut. Judah looks cut as well. Judah falls off balance. Z lands a big left. Nice uppercut by Z. What looks like a lowblow and some body sots by J. Z is cut above both eyes! Close round! I am not scoring this fight, but either guy could be ahead.

Judah has two MASSIVE cuts. 1 above either eye. They are saying they came from headbutts. Zab comes out more reserved for 4.

Zab is coming forward. His corner tells him to forget rounds, knock Johnson out NOW. Nice right by Johnson. Judah wipes away blood. E.J. showboating a little. Judah gets in a 1-2. They fall down to the canvas again. Steve Smoger checks their cuts and says both are fine, but the comentators say this should be stopped, those are masssssive cuts on Judah. BIG body shots and a right by Johnson. Left by Judah. NICE RIGHT UPPERCUT. Lovely move. Johnson backing him up.

Another close round. Judah probably took it.

Judah is up 4-0 on Setanta. It could be 3-1 but Judah is winning a close fight no doubt. Jab by Johnson. Zab's cut opens back up. Ernest misses with a right. Judah punching and pivoting off. Hook by Johnson. Judah hitting and holding BIG time, and they are both leading with their heads on the inside. Judah punches on the break. Right by Johnson. The garden is packed!

Another round for Judah.

Here comes round 6. An ugly chessmatch thus far. Johnson is losing but is giving a good showing.

Judah dances a little. Nice left by Judah. Johnson is very cagey. Judah outworking him, and a beautiful left by Zab. Nice body shot by Johnson. They smash heads again, and it looks like the blood is flowing from Zab. Johnson showboating a little. Jab by Johnson and a BEAUTIFUL combo from Zab! Johnson didn't look at all hurt, but Zab is confident now. Judah shows that he could probably up the work rate and end the fight if he wanted.

[Slotff]

Here comes round 7. That is a massive and disgusting cut that Judah has. Time out the ref calls. Judah's shoe is undone. But this fight should be stopped and go to the cards. Big hook by Judah. Johnson fighting crouched. A nice shot from Johnson! A left hook it looked like. Hard to tell, but landed either way. Nice jab by Zab. Zab tries the uppercut. Zab is bleeding yet again. Big right by Johnson! Nice left by Judah. A right from each guy. Close round.

Judah looks like crap. He has to get his ass down to 138-137. He looks lethargic and is not working very much this round. Jab by Johnson. Very uneventful round. Johnson misses with a right. Close ugly boring round.

[Slotff]

They retape Judah's gloves and here they go. Judah needs a spectacular KO if he wants to get some talk going, cause he looks really tame. Judah pushes Johnson down for like the 50th time this fight. The tape is coming off again. The Smogster wants that gloves taped up good. Right hand by Johnson. Judah falls off balance for a second. Nice jab by Johnson! Another one. And a right hand. But Judah moves off. Right hand to the body by Johnson. And a good right hand by Johnson and some nice body shots! Johnson is doing well this round. Good exchange! Judah has Johnson on the ropes, and Johnson turns Judah on to the ropes. First round that could be given to Johnson, but Judah probably took it aswell.

The fight is over and it seems as though Zab has won. Bad performance though, but it could just have been Johnson's style.
