  • Arthur Abraham Dominates Raul Marquez; Seeks Unification

By Jake Donovan - It might be a while before a formidable middleweight challenger emerges in North America, but Germany is certainly doing its part to try to motivate lineal champion Kelly Pavlik.

Last week, it was Felix Sturm turning back the challenge of Sebastian Sylvester to maintain his alphabet hardware and remain in the middleweight sweepstakes.

This week, Arthur Abraham reminded the boxing world why he’s universally regarded as the best non-American middleweight, as he successfully defended his alphabet title for the eighth time with a sixth round stoppage of Raul Marquez at the Jako Arena in Bamberg, Germany. [details]

A Strum/Abraham fight would be huge over there, I hope we can see Pavlik fight him next year.

if he beats sturm first...tha pavlik fight will become much bigger..
and the 2nd time in history a fighter could collect all 4 belts...

AA-Pavlik is the fight to be made at 160. If it ain't gonna happen right away, let Pavlik slap Rubio around while Sturm and AA unify. Then the unification winner can take on Kelly. sturm probably won't mind fightin AA as long as it's in Europe, so let's do this.

KING ARTHUR will soon join VIC DARCHINYAN as the 2nd ever Armenian Undisputed World Champ

Bring on Sturm, bring on Pavlik babyyyy

CONG**** TO ARTHUR... he was pissed that he couldn't make a highlight reel out of Marquez too like the last 5 guys he fought.

Firstly, Vic needs to either beat Montiel to Unify the division, or rematch Donaire and beat him to be considered the Undisputed champ.

Back to the thread, Abraham needs to get Sturm. Pavlik won't take the fight so soon after coming off a loss, and if Sturm is up for it, then it could be an exciting domestic showdown. Abraham would beat Sturm and Pavlik, but needs to take the realistic approach and call out Sturm before Pavlik.

I see nobody beating Abraham at MW, so after unifying the division (i hope Pavlik and Sturm agree to fighting Arthur), he should move to SMW as that is a superior division with the better fights to be made.

                  abraham-pavlik would be great

im a pavlik fan but i think abraham will beat him by stoppage in a war, his chin, and tight guard will just protect him so well and i think he would draw pavlik into a toe to toe war which abraham would eventually win purely based on his chin and defence as well as one shot power being better than kellys...but it would be hell exciting and abraham wouldnt escape unscathed, but i say he stops kelly in the late rounds....kellys chin woudl stand up to the bombs for a while but would give way eventually

Good job by Abraham. But the quitting from Marquez was suprising. The best would be a fight against Sturm in Feb or March and after that against Pavlik in the summer because Pavlik has to fight his mandatory first.
