i cant help but think Pavlik and Taylor would be complete nobodys in a good era yet both have been and Pavlik still is undisputed champ

Paul Williams is another very ordinary fighter imo aswell i dont get the hype around him at all TBH

    the HW div is garbage

    the CW div is garbage

    the LMW div is garbage

Kessler is a good solid SMW but thats all he is imo their is nothing exceptional about him and he is probably the best the div has to offer

and all the superstars are old and finishing out their final few years

most of you will probably disgree but these are my personal thoughts what do you say
there are alot of weights that are garbage, you mentioned pavlik and taylor and id agree with that. heck only hopkins is the real middlweight of the last 20 years who deserves to be mentioned with other great fighters. taylor is imo still a very good fighter, i can see him doing big things at SMW.

HW is rubbish but hopefully david haye will bring some spark back there, CW is poor as well but thats because alot of the good fighters choose to go north where the bigger fights are. MW and LMW are imo also poor. MW as mentioned before has been one of the worst divisions for some time now.

LMW is a strange one, theres still some good fighters in there - winky, forrest, phillips james kirkland, PW, maybe even marg but the fights just aren't being made.

there are some really good divisions though as well, lightweight is looking fully stocked. pacman, JMM, nate campbell and juan diaz as well are all capable fighters.

welterweight is where the real action is though - imo the amount of quality fights that can still be made in that weight category would compete with anything else the WW category has had in the last few decades. PW, marg, cotto, sugar shane, clottey and andre berto, all of these fighters are top15/20 p4p fighters.

then theres SMW as well yes the division has just lost a big player in joe calzaghe but the ww category still moved forward after mayweather. besides in kessler the division has a real superstar, other fighters like andrade, bute, jeanpascal, froch, taylor and lacey as well are all top fighters and alot of them are already household names. plus kelly and abraham may also be moving up and SMW looks like arguably the best weight divsion right now.

so yeah there are a few poor weight divsions but there are some real red hot ones at the same time.

We still got guys like Paquiao, the Marquez bros., I. Vasquez, Cotto, just a few off the top of my head who are established and still going strong. Cant forget other young guys like Juan Diaz, S. Luevano (who i like, even though most say he's boring), M. Katsidis (it's fun to watch him even when he loses). I think the sport would be ok with better, more competitive match making.

Boxing is in the lower division right now..
            great action going on there.
I do agree though, as a whole it is weak sauce but I still love the sport and always will.

                yeah me to

by no means do i have less love for the sport its just when i look around at guys like Taylor who was struggling against 154lbs fighters and blown up WW like Ouma,Spinks, i think that man did not deserve to hold the title of undisputed MW champ

there is history behind that div and guys like Taylor do it no justice same goes for the HW

honestly, the only guy who i thnk has potential to be a real hof and PPV(unfortunatly) headliner under 25 right now is linares...he is boxings youngest champ at 23.....and soon to be a 2 division titlist.....at 5'9-10', he can easily go all the way up to lightweight IMO....

but aside from him, i cant see no one wth that kind of potential.....i mean, at 23 DLH had 3 division titles and victories over JCC, Genaro Hernandez, Ruelas, Leija, Molina.........

this days, we consider a guy who gets a title at 25 young......

                    this is true

Linares really can be in that class with Barrera,Morales if he knuckles down he is a potential superstar
