How hyped are you for the Jones vs Calzaghe fight? I haven't looked forward to a fight this much since Mayweather vs Hatton.

Not a big deal. Not gonna change the landscape of boxing, or change the legacy of either fighter. Jones has been shot for years and Calzaghe is already a bonified HOFer no matter the out come. I'll watch it on the free encore a week later.Comment

I was gonna buy it, but im leaning more towards watching the free re-run now. Jones is shot and just trying to get by with a few more big paydays(nothing wrong with that, not talking **** just call it how I see it). They should of had a way stronger undercard in my opinion. That would have sold me that they are atleast "trying" to put on a good show for your money.Comment

This is huge if you live in Europe and have never seen a European fight in America, but if you know anything about boxing, you know this fight should have happened 6 years ago when Roy could still, you know, fightComment

I see your point but for me that adds to the hype effect because we all know what Jones was once capable of and depending on how much of his former self shows up, that dictates how spectacular the fight could potentially be. I guess the anticipation lies in the fact that it's still unclear how much Jones Jnr has deteriorated but this fight will reveal his true status as a boxer in 08. Added with the fact that Calzaghe is risking his 0, while planning to KO Jones in his retirement fight.Comment

I dont think its really unclear how much jones jr. has deteriorated, Just look at the Trinidad fight, or any fight after the two brutal KO's. Calzaghe is risking his 0 against a shot fighter, JMO. I may have nothing better to do and end up buying the PPV anyway. At the end of the day it's still boxing and anything can happen, which to me is the only selling point this fight has.I see your point but for me that adds to the hype effect because we all know what Jones was once capable of and depending on how much of his former self shows up, that dictates how spectacular the fight could potentially be. If you knew anything about Calzaghe, he wanted this fight like 6-7 years ago. He wanted both Hopkins/Roy Jones Jr, but both priced themselves out probably because Calzaghe wasn't really a name over here yet and a huge risk for them to take.Comment
