Bigger win for Morales?

he definitely had the upper hand. i think that was manny's 1st fight at 130 right?
the loss was good for manny. it set up a big money rematch and it convinced him to use/improve his right hand.Comment

Yeah, first at 130. His right hand had already improved by that point IMO, it's not what it is now but he was starting to improve it by that point, the Marquez fight really taught him a lesson.Comment

Ring age is important, not physical age.
The more hard fights you have, the quicker you get ring old.
Both have been fighting since they were like 16, but... apparently Manny has avoided having a hard fight more than Morales (although given his style, I can't imagine how that happened)...
Perhaps Pacquiao's body is just better at absorbing punishment in the long term?
Really though, the Morales that lost to Raheem and after was nothing like the Morales who put on a show against Barrera in their second fight (and should have won).
That's like saying that you would pick Vargas to anyone right now, because he's only 30 and 30 is not past prime boxing age. He is shot to pieces.Comment

Pac I, considering where Pac is today and the fact that he's the only one to defeat Pac out of the three great Mexican fighters (Erik, MAB, JMM)Comment

From a legacy standpoint the Pac fight was more important, but from a personal standpoint (and I think Mexican people will agree) Barrera was way more significant.Comment

its not his real age but his ring age, he had been in tons of tough brawls and wars before that.......
its all about how much punishment a fighter takes, not really how old he is (although that does begin to play a part at some point)
i mean take bernard hopkins.....44 years old and still fit, still doesnt cut very much (not at all actually) , still has a top notch chin..........
then take fernando vargas, only like 29 and shot to pieces, chin shattered, wayy out of shape........
its because one guy always stayed in shape and was never involved in any taxing brawls
while the other tended to balloon up in weight quite a bit and was in several wars (which ended with him taking stacks of punishment and getting KTFO)Comment

It's amazing how much this absurd type of comment comes up. "He's only 28! That's not old, he's in his prime!" Vargas is the perfect comeback along with Morales, but for some reason everyone pretends that Morales wasn't completely done by his late twenties. He wasn't just done, he was ****ed!(sigh)
