    Knock out reprecussions

Was doing a bit of research into what happens when you are knocked out and in particular, the effects of concussion. From the evidence provided by medical research, each time you suffer concussion you are more and more susceptable to being concussed in the future...unfortunately there is no proven reason why this is...

"For unknown reasons, having had one concussion significantly increases a person's risk of having another." (quote Neuropsychological evaluation in the diagnosis and management of sports-related concussion". Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology 22 (8): 909–916. PMID 17988831.

So, for everytime you get knocked out, it appears that your resistance to being knocked out decreases accordingly. Do you feel this is evident in fighters who have suffered devastating knockouts and by that I mean proper spark outs where the guy has been laid cold. Should there be a limit on the number of times a fighter is straight KO'd before he is not allowed to fight again.

I know, a boring topic but I think it is relative when people are dicussing heart and commitnent when you see a guy like RJJ prepared to fight again at the top level after 3 KO's...no-one can say he has no heart...the man is a living legend...

My mistake, 1.20am here in Ireland and I have had a few beverages...point remains the same...not just RJJ but any figter...1 KO, 2 KO, 3KO, whatever, surely boxers are aware of this effect and does it have an impact on their game plan for future fights...

Being knocked out is all about chemical reactions in the brain and the effects apparently worsen each time...do boxers think of this (as well as the obvious physcological effects of having laid on your back looking at the lights) when they next fight

No emphasis on RJJ in particular, just dont like the tone of some posts saying the guy has no heart when he has clearly proved the opposite...

Any fighter KO'd multiple times in a short span of fights should consider retirement on his own volition. It shouldn't be forced on him if he's not clearly showin signs of mental deterioration. And yea, a fighter's chin does gradually erode away if he continually takes heavy damage.
