Personally I see Jones winning maybe the first 3-4 rounds, by countering Joe as Joe tried to work Jones out. Usually Calzaghe adapts to people afterwards and dominates the mid to late rounds. After 6 rounds I see Calzaghe's work rate being to much for Jones to keep up with. If Jones get silly and goes to war with Joe he could end up getting stopped, I know Calzaghe doesn't have the power he used to but he always comes out on top if people go to war. My predicition is 8 rounds to Calzaghe UD, however I think Jones's best chance is if he takes his time and only counters. 3 months ago I would of said Roy has no chance but closer to the fight im warming to Jones countering Joe alot its just how quickly Calzaghe adapts, he adapted slow vs Hopkins I thought he was fighting Hopkins fight for the first half of the fight and almost paid the price for it, hopefully Joe is on top of his game tommorow!
That's def. the preferred overall guess based on boxing experts and I cannot blame ya with that very real possibility. I think Joe is going to try and pressure Jones and pay the price for it. I knew this as soon as i saw the Hopkins fight. Jones is way faster that Bernard and will offset Calzaghe's work rate tremendously. If Joe wins, it will have to be off of work rate alone like the B-hop fight. I know Joe won that one for sure but he looked like an amateur against a guy closer to his equal in overall skill. Jones is still more skilled and has just as good of stamina as B-hop. With his counter punching ability, I feel like Joe will be fighting an uphill battle and will get caught nasty if he pushes it too much. Roy will not get put away by a Calzaghe flurry like Manfredo and I feel like allot of Joe fans seem to think that is the most likely scenario, whether early or late in the fight. I hate to be one to break it to anyone, but that is just not going to happen.

Thanks allot for the reply though, I will be looking forward to the fight and I'm sure we will talk about it afterwards, no matter who wins. Cheers!

I wanted to make a note on here about the ESPN tally of the pick of how the fight will end as stated earlier in the thread. Jones winning by decision or KO is at 60% right now. Joe is at about 32% and 8% says it will be a draw.

Two more things that I want to point out are all of the recent upsets and the fact that ESPN's own Dan Rafeal is also going with Jones by decision.

My prediction of a Jones win does not stand on its own, in fact, most elite experts say this will likely be an upset.

Chase8400: Jones passes the torch to Calzaghe

Well,it appears like my prediction was incorrect and Joe performed magnificent. But I do want to mention that it was not too far off. Jones did land an early KD and landed a monster uppercut in the 6th round that would have KO'd allot of guys at the weight. I predicted a 6th rd. TKO. I knew Roy's style would be trouble for Joe if Roy showed that old spark. He did some good things, but after those middle rounds passed and Joes work rate pumped up, it was definitely discouraging. The cut in the 7th did'nt help matters either. All in all, it was apparent that the current top light heavyweight was fighting the best from several years past. It was an exciting fight and I have to give Joe credit for his great work rate, adjusting ability and one hell of a granite chin. I stand firm that if Roy went all out after that KD in the first he could have finished Joe off. Of course, this is 2008 and not 1998 afterall and those days are long passed. Call it old age or reluctance due to the KO's, but I say Jones was done after moving up to heavyweight and fulfilling that dream. This was never as clear as it is now. I finally feel like Roy should retire. This was the conceding of the crown to a fresher , younger and new champ. I still think Jones would have whipped upon Calzaghe in his prime but I want to give credit where it is due. Calzaghe is great and he will have his place in history to verify it. Long live the Italian Dragon.

Thanks for the memories Roy, we as fans wish you well!
