    Roy Jones Junior and southpaws

Help me out here guys? Ive seen RJJ against a southpaw only twice andhe looked unconvincing - how many has he fought and how did he cope with them. Make no mistake i rate RJJ as absolutely amazing, but southpaws are a funny breed.
One thing being overlooked here is that Calzaghe, for all his aggression and speed, is actually a counter-punching southpaw of classic proportions. Joe is more comfortable with boxers coming on to him even if sometimes it looks like he is always the aggressor. He has spent his career against orthodox oppponents whereas Jones has not taken on too many southpaws. Its all very well to state the classic southpaw counter, but at this level its not so simple. Angles are different, movement is different and the concentration levels need to be upped that little bit more.
Oh yeah i want our Joe to win and oh yeah i know its gonna be a close one to call but maybe this small fact has been overlooked. Calzaghe is one of the very best southpaws ever to ply his trade. There is not much between these two, so this might just have significance on the day.

    A good point well raised.

I personally think the fact that Joe is a southpaw makes a big difference, whoever he is fighting.

Not many people carry the speed that Joe does, and couple that with his southpaw stance and you have a very awkward man to fight.

Hopkins found out that you need many gameplans against Joe, when he floored him in the first with the "classic" southpaw counter, the straight right. But, count how many times he lands that punch afterwards, it's not many.

Joe can adapt so well in any situation that are no "counters" as such to his style, you need to be able to think on your feet faster than he does.

Nobody has managed it yet, and I can't see an old Roy being the first.
